Yeah, my thing is that I spent months looking at pea coats and bought the most slim one I could, but compared to yours it's pretty big.

I'm really tall and lanky, and think I have a small head (picture A-rod), and am of the opinion that slim stuff looks best on me.
It can be tricky, because stuff that fits slim, or even normal in the torso is usually very short in the sleeves.

I'm surprised both at how cool yours looks, and the quality you speak of, the ones I saw in a surplus shop for the same price where worse than a Scheels $30 Moose creek peacoat.

I just received my peacoat from Sterlingwear today (size 36R), and it feels a bit tight for me as well. When I wear it standing up it feels nice, though when I move my arms up there is a slight tension around the shoulder/armpit area.
Is this normal (since the wool is quite thick, I assume it is okay?)?

When I sit down it feels a bit tight around both the abdomen and chest area (guess I will solve this by losing a bit of weight, which was a goal I set for next year even before getting my coat ). This is with a light hoody and undershirt underneath by the way.

I have a peacoat and it has that same fit/tightness (only when worn over a suit), so I'm glad most people here agree that it looks fine. I've gotten nothing but compliments whenever I wear it.

That's about how mine feels. I'm not terribly concerned because 99% of the time I'm just going to be walking around on the street with it.

My 2c: if it looks just right, who cares if you can't hug yourself or reach for something. And just hanging out, somewhat immobile, adds to the nonchalance that fits this look perfectly.

And no I'm not joking.

I still think it's too small. Peacoats are supposed to fit a bit larger than that. Not droopy or boxy, mind you, but with room for movement or at least a sweater.

Forget gaining weight; if you dry clean that sucker you won't be able to wear it.

Hm, is the Sterlingwear peacoat supposed to have 2 buttons on each side of the collar? There are 2 button holes on the collar but I only find 1 button on the right side of the coat. Is there supposed to be 2 buttons, so that I can do something like this with the coat?

Actually I am still deciding whether to get 38R instead of 36R. Because right now, with a semi-thick sweater on it is a perfect fit (no extra room at all). If I get a 38R, 2 inches will be added to the waist, chest, and hip with the sleeve length staying the same (sleeve is perfect for me right now).
Does anyone know if the sleeve width will grow as well? The current width already seems good enough for me.

Yes, there is supposed to be a button under the collar to do that. I think you will probably want to stay with the smaller size. If the buttons aren't too close together to begin with, you can easily move them over a bit to give yourself a little more wiggle room in the body.

So there is supposed to be two buttons under the collar? If so, then my coat may be defective. Actually I can't really use the one button I have around my collar because my neck is too thick.
I think I am leaning towards getting a 38R instead now though, because originally when I measured my chest size it was 37" but the tape measure was sort of tight. I mean it certainly looks okay, and I am going to try and lose 15-20 pounds next year, but I don't think my chest will magically reduce in size that much.

Sorry, but if your movement is severly limited by the garmet, it is too small. No offense, but you look vacuum sealed in the coat. Why don't you just buy the next size up and have a tailor slim it down? If it fits well in the shoulders a tailor will be able to slim it down in the body and arms and you'll still have some room to breathe. I have to do that with almost everything I buy.

Hey,
I just picked up a wool Sterlingwear and have been wearing it to work the last week. After taking off my coat in the morning my dress shirt is full of lint from the inside of the jacket.

I was wondering if others on here could comment on whether or not this is a recurring problem with this jacket or whether or not after a couple weeks it stops.

Also I was wondering if anyone with this jacket had any experience with taking out some of the padding. I have broad shoulders and this jacket makes them look HUGE...which is not a good thing.

The lint stops after a little while.

Hi guys, I bought a Sterlingwear Peacoat recently and I'm a bit disappointed with the fit of it. I think it's a bit too big for me. I followed the website's instructions and went with a size bigger than what I normally wear.

Looking from the pictures, do you think the sleeves are too long for me and if the coat itself is too long for me? If so, what size should I consider getting? I'm thinking of asking for a size 36R, but I'm afraid the sleeves and length of the coat will be just as long as the current one that I'm wearing (size 38R). The reason why I believe that is the case is because of the information posted on Sterlingwear's website: http://www.sterlingwear.com./sizechart.html

So what do you guys think? Should I go even smaller and go for a size 34? I'm looking for a fitted coat if that makes any sense.
