I think drycleaning actually makes it like that. I have two coats from the same era and one is considerably softer. However, the brittler (?!) one has a much nicer looking sheen, plus it helps exfoliate my jawline...

i agree. if it feels too tight, it is. if you can't wear a sweater under it, i'm not sure it is very functional in cold weather.

are the sleeves long enough? that is the first thing i look at when determining if a shirt or jacket fits.

it *looks* really good. if you cant hug yourself and reach up to the top shelf, then it's too tight. If you can do it even tho you feel some tightness, I'd keep it the way it is. If you're gonna layer, you def need to size up

Yeah, the sleeves are actually a little short. Although I've actually only tried it on with a heavy sweater on, so I don't really have to worry about it getting much tighter, since I don't layer any more than that.

You know, I think I'm going to keep it. The problem is that I'm at home with my parents who keep saying "IT'S TOO SMALL IT'S TOO SMALL" and want my to buy clothes that will fit in ten years rather than now. "You know, if you gain any weight, it won't fit!"

I like my gear to fit where "if i gain any weight it wont fit" so that it keeps my weight where I want it to be.

yeah, well, didn't even take it into consideration you weren't done growing. if thats the case, you might want a 36 if you haven't stopped growing, but if it's like you getting fatter, than *******, make that the motivating factor to get slimmer if you do.

My body hasn't changed appreciably in like four years. I'm a skinny bastard and I'm pretty active, so I'm not terribly worried about getting fat. And when I do gain weight, I'll be done with school and making $$$ so buying another $140 peacoat won't be a huge deal. My first instinct was "This looks awesome," so I think I'll stick with it. I'm happy that some of you agree.

so are peacoats that fit much bigger than that bad?

I bought the most fitted one I could and it's huge compared to that, I've been questioning it since I got it.

No, I don't think it's necessarily bad. I've seen plenty of awesome looking peacoats that much bigger than mine. Check that topped thread about them to see some great pictures from the Sartorialist of people wearing larger coats. But I tend to wear all of my clothes very slim so it's kind of the look I'm going for.

Now I'm sort of tempted to order a Sterlingwear Classic 36L in Oxford Grey just so I have another option. The quality on this thing is just fantastic.
