I attend about 6-10 blacktie events per year, thanks to being a member of the Bar.

In that case I suppose my wear will increase dramatically over the coming years.

this is an interesting thread, thanx for posting it.

as for me, i recently replaced my wedding tuxedo, and plan to wear black tie (i recently received the custom-jobs from Robert Talbot in Carmel, a batwing and a traditional butterfly) to the following:

New Year's Eve (chicago, NYC, or possibly phoenix)
Fantasty of Trees (black tie event around thanksgiving in Knoxville TN)
Weddings which require it/ part of the groom's party

other suggestions?? ??black tie events at the art museum in chicago or NYC?? how does one get on these guest lists easily, without spending ungodly amounts of monthly $$ for ultra-exclusive memberships?

If you don't wish to make a major financial contribution, then supporting a charity means donating your time, mainly calling friends and business contacts in an effort to sell tickets to fundraising events.

The Chaine is an international gastronomic society; there are chapters all over the world -- even in Texas! Here's a link to the U.S. society http://www.chaineus.org/index.htm

Are you kidding, it's hard enough to find a resurant that's not "business casual" where you can wear a suit without feeling way overdressed (overdressed is OK, way overdressed can be weird).
