Destination: New Orleans for Halloween...suggestions?

I'm having a reunion with some high school friends in New Orleans during Halloween. I've never been there so I'm really looking forward to it. airline ticket and hotel are already bought. I'm going to be there for 3 days...what are a couple of can't miss places I should visit? Food, music, and general ideas would be great!

thanks in advance,

R

Went there last month for the first time too - nothing to add you won't find in any tourist guide, but Commander's Palace, Napoleon House, Red Fish Grill and Acme Oyster House were all good-to-great food wise. Mother's is the only place I ate where the food felt mediocre, and got plenty of attitude from the staff.... Mary's At The Market (near French Market) was a decent pub too, pretty even mix of locals/tourists.

If I scroll down to the bottom of this page, I see a list of previous threads. One of them already has a bunch of info.

I wouldn't quite say New Orleans is a college town, the biggest colleges are two private universities. New Orleans is also the largest city in Louisiana, maybe your thinking of Baton Rouge. I do get where you could say that it is with its major bar scene. But anyways there are a lot of places to go on Bourbon Street. I suggest you get completely shit-faced and let the alcohol find the fun places.
