watch shopping in frankfurt, munich, koln

Will be in Germany 2nd week of Nov, looking for a sporty/casual watch 100 euro or less, prefer rubber/plastic band but nicer & more unique than a swatch. Will be in Frankfurt, Munich, Koln (Cologne), and Stuttgart (but arriving in Stuttgart mid-afternoon Saturday, stores may be closed by then?).

Any advice on where to shop? Are major dept stores going to have the best selection, or are there reasonably priced watch shops in the city centers?

Any decent German brands to look for?

... best selection ... german brands ... for less than 100 Euros??? Ever thought about teleshopping???

I dunno where you should be looking in your price range but Wempe is a great store and they have one in all three of the cities you listed. They have A Lange Sohne and Glashutte Original which are the best German brands...that cost tens of thousands of dollars....so to sum up my post is pretty unhelpful.

For this price, you won't get a serious German watch. Trust a German.

Koln? Well if you're going to be like that, well then we'd better say Munchen as well, eh?

Add:
Moskva (Moscow)
Roma (Rome)
Bruxelles (Brussells)
Beijing (Peking)

to your list as well if you're going to call all cities by their local names.

Have a look at Nomos, German watches made in Glashütte/Saxony:

EUR 1000 is now about the starting point (maybe EUR 100 was a typo). Wempe stocks them (in all their branches).

Not a typo, 100 euro ($150 US). It's a gift for someone who doesn't appreciate nicer things. Nylon band is OK too (military style). ("Koln" saves space in the subject field and is more searchable.)

For 100 euro you may be able to find a nice leather strap.

why not try swatch? most of their models are below $ 100, if i'm not mistaken. granted, it's a swiss manufacturer, but most people in the usa won't be able to tell the difference between germany and switzerland. baresolid is correct: if you pick the original german name, go with "köln," as "koln" is incorrect.

I got this for around 200 bucks a couple of years ago, commonly available on ebay I think. Kinda cool, basic mechanical skeletonized watch with a fashion forward white leather band. Mineral glass front and back, fun to look at.







Chenevard is the brand name.
