Finally, the NBA is back The! Lakers first pre-season game starts in a few minutes against the Warriors. I can't wait to see what Artest brings to the Lakeshow.

Also, to those interested in having an SF Fantasy Basketball League, post in here.

Recap big moves of the offseason:
Artest to Lakers
Shaq to Cavs
Carter, Bass and Williams to Magic
Jefferson, McDyess and Ratliffe to Spurs
Miller to Portland
Iverson to Grizzlies
Marion to Mavericks
Gordon, Wallace and Villanueva to Pistons
Griffin to Clippers

My early prediction:
Lakers, San Antonio, Nuggets and Portland as the top 4 team in the West with Utah and Mavericks close behind.
Western Conference champs - LA Lakers

Magic, Cavs and Boston as the top 3 team in the East with the Raptors, Bulls, Sixers, Hawks and Heat right behind.
Eastern Conference champs - Boston Celtics

Lakers vs Celtics Finals Rematch with the Lakers repeats as the 2010 NBA Champs.

The Lakers are looking strong. Bynum looks like he lost weight and he certainly looks real healthy. He is back to the dunking and alley-ooping center he was before. He even has some left handed moves now so it looks for him. Sasha and Farmar looks like they have plenty to prove, especially with Brown and Morrisson gunning for their position. Browns facial on Miki Moore was just nasty. Kobe looks like Kobe as usual. Artest looks comfortable in his role, he isn't just chicking up 3's after 3's. Pau and Fisher look like they will get plenty of rest this season.

It'll be a good season.

good to see bynum get his confidence up and put up some good numbers last night although it is an offseason game. he's got to be able to take hits taking it to the hole. he's got to get tough and nasty. i expect alot improvement out him this season.

he wants to make all star this year so at least he has a good motivation.

good to see sasha get his stroke on too.

Meh. The NBA season doesn't really start until the playoffs. Half the teams make the playoffs, so most players sleep-walk through the regular season.

I'll check back in next April.

Edit: Of course, dopey should watch all he can of his beloved Knicks right now, while they're still playing.

you got to admit that just sleep walking to the playoffs more times than not will just get you eliminated in the first round? lot of how you do in the playoffs is really contingent on seeding/home court, and what kind of momentum you can conjure up right around march/april.

That is true. Habits are built during the regular season. That said, I think most players don't realize this, so I see most teams playing very little defense. Instead, I see a lot of running and jump-shooting during the regular season.

I can't believe how big Ron Artest has become.. I remeber walking around St. Johns and seeing him every day, i didn't think he'd last this long or become this much of a player -- It's a Queens thing i guess.

Anywhoo -- I wonder how far into the season will D'antoni will quit; hopefully after the 3rd preseason game.

I don't think you've seen Kobe and Lebron play then, along with DWade, Howard, Duncan, Paul, etc... These guys work like crazy night in and night out. Rarely do these guys sit back and relax, hell Kobe got a technical last night in a pre-season game and they were winning by 30. You really see the determination in most of these guys, who tends to make the playoffs because of it. Unlike TMac, Josh Smith and Carter who gets lazy and a waste of talent. You just don't see the same fire but really, I like the whole NBA season, there are just more things going on and to keep up with. So I would say some, or very few sleep through the season because those who make the playoffs play harder and those who are on a crappy team plays harder because they are fighting for a contract and hopefully a bigger endorsement and bigger pay. It's sad but there are players like Iverson who seems content with just making money and being a star instead of winning a chip.
