NBA 2009-2010 Season Thread - Page 130

Pretty obvious stuff to say. Kobe played great defense on Rondo and shot the lights out, but he got little help and he turned the ball over way too much. Odom didn't play poorly, but I question his interior defense in the 2nd half. On the same note, I think Gasol played much worse than his stats suggest; his defense and rebounding left much to be desired. Bynum is a really huge part of the puzzle; offensive rebounding is why the Celts won today. It started early, even, when Gasol couldn't pull down rebounds and let them go out of bounds. It never stopped.

How the hell does Big Baby get ANY and-1s?????? That honestly should not be happening. Dude has worst height+hops of anyone in the league, minus Chuck Hayes.

hubris from the celtics - davis used the word 'immortality' a couple of times in his post game conf when the series is only 2-2

I have never been more convinced that Glen Davis is half retarded until I saw him at last ngith game flexing his fats and drooling like a pitbull. Seriously, I don't know how the Lakers could laugh or give the WTF?!?!? face after that. He played well but every time he makes a call after a basket he acts like he won the game.

I think it must be the water or something in the Gatorade in the Celtics locker room that makes them way too damn emotional there to a point where they over-react. The energy and influence by Pierce and KG probably has a lot to do with it too. I didn't even get why Wallace acted the way he did after he fouled Kobe, it was obvious he hacked both of his arms. That is why refs do not listen to him, because after they watch the replay on that tech call, they'll see how obvious the foul was and ask why the hell he was complaining for? Davis and Nate over-reacting on everything and KG on all fours like a dog again and Pierce acting like they won already saying he won't be coming back to LA. It really makes it so much easier to like Ray Allen a lot more.

Although there were critical calls against the Lakers, ie: the obvious charge by Pierce on Kobe, I can't help but blame the Lakers for missing those 2 techs by Fisher and Kobe of all people.

What is bad news for the Lakers is Bynums knee, it seemed to really bother him last night being unable to elevate on rebounds. That might just be the Lakers downfall since outside of Odom, the Lakers bench is useless. So if Odom moves to the starting 5, well then it might be all over for them unless Powell steps up but he hasn't played much so I don't see that happening. I really hope the next 2 days break will help him get better but damn it sucks. If it were only possible to play the starting 5 for the full 48 minutes, but then with the Boston transition offense, it's difficult not to get winded out after a while trying to catch that on defense.

I still see the Lakers winning game 5 and they will finish it in game 6. The only factor right now is Bynum.

I must say though, this is probably one of the worst Finals ever. I just haven't felt like "this is a great game" in the 4 games so far. Some were nerve racking but nothing were it felt like I witnessed a great game.

^^^^^

Next game is just as much of a must win for Celtics. Kobe & Pau put team on back and power through Game 5 and bring it back home to finally win a series/championship at HOME.

cmon let's do this.

I thought that the officiating was extremely even, or even pro-LA slightly. The charge on Kobe was probably a charge, but any charge/block can be difficult to discern in real-time, and the situation/crowd may have swung that call a bit more. Besides, few flops get as egregious as the Gasol one on Wallace early.

"Worst Finals ever" and "worst officiated series ever" stuff is exaggerated to the max. Is this series really worse than the Spurs sweeping the Cavs? Anybody against the Nets? LA vs. Los Iversons? Houston vs. Orlando?

Finals are usually less one-sided than Super Bowls, but not by much.

davis is a load -- and a douche -- but he really worked hard. people talk a lot about height, but he really uses his width. watch his shots ... he jumps into the guy and pins him against one side of his body, then puts up his shot way low with the off hand. that's really tough to block without getting weakside help. plus, he just moved his feet really well. i disgree about gasol ... i thought he played garnett pretty well. and he scored well, too. most of the time davis was odom's responsibility.

I'm talking individual game-wise, I think it's because everything feels slower, maybe because of all the fouls? There have been great games this post season but these finals games are decent at best. Outside of the rivalry and hatred, there really isn't much in the series. The only shining moment was Ray Allens great game but that was followed by 2 "turrible" ones. Kobe hasn't been Kobe much, he looks stunted out there against the Celtics. KG and Pierce isn't the same either. I just do not feel like there is a good game yet, maybe thats just me. Plus keep in mind, I said one of the worst but not the worst. I wouldn't rank it in the very bottom but it is in a pool of other bad ones.

Again, I am taking about the games so far in this finals, not the overall series. But in the Lakers vs. Sixer series, Iverson gave them all they could handle in each game even stealing game 1 in LA. Spurs sweeping the Cavs was bad but the games were good. Same with the Hou/Orl finals, there were good games there, in this finals, all have been mediocre at best. Maybe it was also the hype of having a re-match from 2 years ago that it was built up too much that I expected a lot more?

I'm probably one of the biggest phil fans out there, but anyone beginning to question him at all? I was surprised he left the starters in at the beginning of the 4th when they've been playing heavy minutes the past several games. I get that he's going for the kill, but you gotta pick your spots for that. I felt like Pau and Kobe were pretty gassed in the end there.

And then you have his never-call-a timeout philosophy while watching lamar get schooled w/ pretty much the same move over and over and over again. you don't have to wait until after the game to make an adjustment. Why not put artest on baby? clearly, lamar doesnt have the mindset to bang in the paint, and he never will. if PP comes in, I feel like lamar is quick and long enough to hang with him on D. farmar and brown are quick enough to stay w/ nate rob so it's not like Kobe's D was needed out there at the beginning of the 4th.

And in retrospect, playing bynum heavy minutes in game 2 looks like its coming back to haunt the lakers. 39 minutes on a gimpy knee....I'm no doctor, but I'm gonna go ahead and guess that it had something to do with his worsening condition right now. play him a bit in the beginning, set the tone. Kobe will take care of the middle quarters in terms of scoring, and he'll close out the 4th if he doesnt have to play such high energy/high intensity D all the time.

I know I'm searching for ppl/things to blame, but damn this has been frustrating to watch. Laker bench also needs to show some damn pride...they're gettin embarrassed throughout the playoffs.

I questioned phil's decisions back in 08 when he had all those garbage bench guys in at the most important times of the game lol.

They just need to get back into the groove of things.

+1. Did you see him get his clock cleaned by Howard's elbow. He looked a bit brain damaged.
