I don't know if there was a link; according to imdb, she died of ovarian cancer.

I'm skeptical of this, judging from what's in the trailer and the nature of the book. Also, some of the early Bonds are fairly faithful to the source material. OHMSS comes to mind. Goldfinger, too, though they changed the villain's scheme (for the better). Seems like FRWL was a pretty close adaption, but it's been a long time since I read the book.

I think Fleming's writing style was good, but I slightly prefer Graham Greene.

Fleming is nowhere NEAR the same league as Greene. I mean, books like Our Man in Havana are spy thrillers, sure, but they're far better than the Bond books. And of course, Fleming never wrote anything as good as End of the Affair.
