Gershwin NYC

Thread Starter
I don't know where else to post this so I thought this would be as good a section of the forum as any. I'm planning a weekend trip to NYC and being a poor, struggling artist of sorts, I would rather spend my money on food, clothes and entertainment rather than a lavish hotel room which I'll only be in for sleep. With that said, I also don't want to stay in a rat-hole. I've seen the outside of The Gershwin (swank!) and have heard that's it's a great option for people who want a nice place to stay without dropping a load of cash. I thought what with all the travellers and whatnot in this forum, I might be able to get some feedback. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Unable to comment on that hotel particularly, but go to betterbidding.com for a way to get a room at a 3-star for about $100/night.

I used it to get a 4-star for $135.

Just tell them: "looking for a 3-star in Midtown for May xxx for $100" and they'll tell you what to do.

There are a few bed-and-breakfasts in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Easy commute to Manhattan. Try craigslist.com.
