Has the price gone up since the inception of this post by 600-800% though?   People were quoting 2.50 a pair then.

Just curious if this is now considered the standard for nice dress socks (a bit new to that game)

£2.50, so about $4.00, now it costs about $13-14. That's still a hefty raise of about +250% which is still a lot but not quite what you said. I would like to know whether these are still worth it according to others, to me it doesn't seem that cheap, considering these are cotton socks and not wool ones.

Can't speak to others, but I think the viccel socks are pretty good value. I've tried a number of different manufacturers and just prefer 100% natural fibers (cotton and wool). All alternatives are at least 50% more expensive than viccel.

If properly sized the socks stay up all day and are very comfortable. I used to had wash, but now separate bag and gentle wash in the washing machine. The colors stay vibrant and a set of socks usually last the full year without a lot of wear and fading. Washing directly in the machine will greatly reduce the life of the socks. I've been purchasing for the last 4 years and will probably continue to do so.

Woops!  Was tired.  Just multipled by the 2.50 without converting

My curiosity still remains about the 250% price hike!  Glad I'm not the only one.

By 2010 - on page 9 - they had already gone up to $7.30.  I guess you can say they were cheap to begin with – probably too cheap – - but 13-14$ seems pricey.  Shipping all the way from Turkey...it's hard to imagine how these trump all other quality dress socks.

Anyone know what the top 3 or 5 makers are and where Viccel compares to them in price?

Sorry if I seem I'm calling out Viccel here.  Everything is business.   I'm a Gold Toe guy but ready to step up my game...but it seems a pricey affair.

For reference, Bresciani and Marcoliani are much more expensive. We're talking ~$30 per pair here.

You might be over thinking this. Buy a pair or two and see what you think. I've ordered three times and am happy with what I've received. Also, if you use one of the discount links (20% off) and order 10 (buy 9 and you get one free) the cheapest are USD$7.50 or so.

Couldn't even begin to say. I've been waiting on an order since August lol...last handful of inquiries have been met with silence...

Works for me. I don't get the message but if you go to the shop you'll see the prices slashed - at least for me.

This is ridiculous...

@Spurious it is definitely considered a sunk cost for me at this point lol. It is unfortunate considering how well priced and generally well regarded they are here.

@ericgereghty Just wanted to let you know that even if there is no communication there is still hope. I ordered about a month ago and only gotten an email confirming the order was placed. Two days ago I went on the site to see the status of my order to find that it was still "being prepared" even though on the same afternoon I received my socks in the mail.

I had an order that took probably about three months. They just use the cheapest shipping possible. It's a total gamble.

Eric. Check where Viccel is, and then do a google maps to see how long it will take to physically walk there. It should give you an estimate of when the courier will arrive
