Viccel.com socks - Page 54

Just posting as a major thank you to Viccel.

I placed an order for 11 pairs of socks from Viccel on March 15. The order was for my wedding socks; I had been looking everywhere for solid light pink socks and surprisingly, they weren't very easy to find. Myself and my two groomsmen all wore our own light grey suits, white shirts, black ties, and brought out a little of the wedding color with our socks and pocket squares.

The thing is, about a week after placing my order, I hadn't heard anything about whether they had been shipped or not so I started to get worried so I sent them a quick email to check on the status so I could start looking for backup socks if the order wouldn't make it before I left to travel for the wedding. I received a prompt reply back saying the socks had actually already been taken to the post office in Turkey and because customs can sometimes hold up the process for quite a long time, they would go the very next morning to recall the shipment. I was told they can pull them back and send UPS priority to make sure I got them in time.

When they emailed me the next day, I was asked only for my address so I inquired as to what the additional shipping cost would be to weigh whether or not I should just go pick up a few pair at Thomas Pink for $33 each (I had no idea what international shipping would cost from Turkey to Nevada).

I got a really nice reply back that they just wanted to confirm my address and Viccel would cover the expedited shipping cost as a wedding gift! I was actually blown away, I work in the service industry and they knocked it out of the park here. I knew before I even got the socks that I was a customer for life. I had only mentioned the wedding in my original email to state the reason why I was anxious to receive them and they ran with it and made sure I got them.

This review was long overdue but I'm glad I'm finally getting it out there. The socks were great and everyone complimented us on them - once I have time, I may post a photo to show them off. For the price, they can't be beat. I ordered 11 pair, all winter weight aside from one heavy cotton (to compare) and I paid less than I would have buying only 3 pair from Thomas Pink and the quality is equal if not better (I ended up getting a pair from TP just to compare).

Thanks again to Viccel for the great socks and even better service.

Lasts winter I purchased 14 of the Heavy Winter Weight OTC. I was rather impressed with them so thought I'd get some thinner ones and compare them to my Palatino 920L socks. The Palatino are pretty light so I ordered the Super Fine and the Summer.

The Summer Weight are very similar to the Palatino,.they feel like the same thickness and when you hold them up to the Sun they look to be the same thickness. They are both really soft and feel the same for softness. They are very similar, about the only way I can tell them apart when I get them out is the band at the top, the Palatino is not very wide in comparison.

The Viccel are a little longer which I like for myself, I'm 6'1" I can see my feet through the Viccel socks when they are on, quit a bit more than the Palatino. I assume this is because the Palatino are made on a 260 needle knitting machine. The Palatino have approx twice as much stretch, this sock is really a couple of inches shorter but that is where it comes to and stays all day. The Palatino really disappear when you wear them where the Viccel are nice but you can tell you have them on, in comparison.

$36 (left) vs $12.99 (right) It is amazing you can get such a nice sock at such a great price. For some reason the Palatino looks darker in the pic, to me they both look like the same navy.

My first order came in, I ordered a pair of each weight and two bi colors.

I cannot comment on much yet, but here are my first impressions:
- I really like the colors of the cotton socks (ordered navy and burgundy)
- The weights feel nice and the range is well covered
- I really really dislike the color of the clarinet red merino socks, they are a brown/rust but nowhere near the color of the regular clarinet red cotton socks. I consider the color unwearable to be honest.

I will wear them and see how they are holding up in comparison to my other socks (Falke and Vitrano or w/e Italian brand I got).
Definitely happy with the purchase overall and will consider ordering again in the future.

Thought I'd share my Viccel experiences from a couple of months ago as well.

I had already ordered several pairs of socks from Viccel and when they released their winter weight socks I decided to place an order for a single pair of Grey Black Herringbone Over Calves. After waiting for 4 weeks I grew impatient and wrote an email to Ahmet. Previous orders had only taken about a week to be delivered to me to Germany.

Ahmet explained to me that he can't offer registered mail with orders of less than 3 pairs and thus was not able to track the missing pair's whereabouts.

He then offered to either send me a replacement pair free of charge or if I'd order two pairs he would add the missing pair to those and send them out via registered mail.

I opted for the later and happily found 3 new socks in my mail box a couple of days later.

Then another 2 weeks later the initial order arrived, turns out the shipment was held up at German customs for no apparent reasons and they failed to contact me in a timely manner. Since my intention was not to obtain a free pair of socks I wired Ahmet the payment for them via Paypal. I was very pleased with the overall service and with how professionally Ahmet conducts business.

Having worn them for many months now I can thoroughly recommend Viccel. Ahmet is a pleasure to deal with. He offers high quality socks at a very affordable price.

I am 6'2. I checked my invoice and they are OTC socks. Half an hour into my day the socks have fallen down my leg and are around my ankle. Everyone in this thread is going ga-ga for these socks but frankly they are terrible IMO and feel I am missing something.

I actually had the same experience which has stopped from further orders. I am only 6 feet tall but the OTC socks do not come close to being over the calf. Maybe because I have a smaller foot (size 7), but the sock is about 2 inches too short and always slides down.
