always wondered if you could do this
seems you can
whenever im surfing and a huge wave is coming you obviously start paddling right at it, and if you don't intend on taking it you try to get to it before it breaks, wow, glad you can do this on a tsunami, never knew

I was quick to call BS but from what I have read in other articles a few other surfers claimed to do the same thing.

I've met three old people who claim to have seen Wilt score 100 live on TV.

The game was not even broadcast on television.

I don't know exactly how many people I've met who claim to have been at Woodstock, but it's at least a half-dozen.

I was a USCG motorlifeboat coxswain and designated surfman at Tillamook Bay Oregon and trained on the Columbia River. Forum members from those areas can vouschafe my comments about those two area's deadly ocean bars.
What the surfers did is in fact the correct procedure we were trained to do on a larger scale.
This is not the first time surfers, and fishermen in boats nearly as small have survived tsunamis.

I'm surprised he didn't duck-dive the wave. Twenty-two feet is big but not at all unheard of. Then again, he seems good enough to have known what he was doing, so since he didn't, there was probably a reason.

I've watched documentaries about the training the USCG does there. That's some scary stuff.

His tie knot is bigger than his waist.
