A-Rod has been underrated for several years (while being the highest-paid baseball player ever, he's still been underpaid by about $40 million since 2002).
Adrian Beltre!

You're joking right? I'm so glad the Dodgers dumped him after his one and only decent season in 2004.

He's been worth 16.5 WAR for the Mariners since that season. A little over 3 WAR per season while being best defensive 3B in baseball and lovable? I'd say he's underrated.

Staubach was a GOD to Texas schoolboys in the late 70's. A GOD I tell you. Most schoolboys would tell you that Roger walked on water and that imposter Danny White would be holding a clipboard until Roger was ready to retire.

I did not live in Texas, but I can well remember Texan adulation for Staubach and burning hatred of White. I think my family has watched the '81 NFC championship game more times than actual NFL games have been played throughout history.

alright. Montana and Allen were practically run out of town while still great, and people rarely saw them as the best at any one time. Trevino is classic underrated and scrappy, yet probably the second best hitter of a golf ball in history. Bird, you could argue, but mchale was rarelyentioned as a great. Faldo was the nest of his day, by a mile, but totally overshadowed by Norman et al. People forgot about Borg in two seconds.

Tom Weiskopf once said of Jack Nicklaus, "When you got to the first tee, he knew he was going to beat you; and you knew he was going to beat you; and he knew that you knew he was going to beat you."

At the risk of sounding like a complete dumbass, what the heck is a "WAR"?

Yep - I remember my mom hiding my Staubach jersey so I couldn't wear it to school everyday when I was in third grade. I still think he was unerrated compared to Bradshaw.
