This really depends far more on where you live than the denomination of the church. On the West Coast of the US, everyone except the elderly tend to dress very casually when attending church. At most churches (including Lutheran) jeans will be the the most common thing to see people wearing. And about the most dressy you'll ever see is chinos + polo or casual button down (e.g. plaid). Wearing navy slacks + a white button down will make you look like an overdressed geek, especially if you're younger. But I get the impression that things are very different in South and some areas of the Midwest with people commonly wearing suits and dressing up in their "Sunday's Best" to attend church. You can see this in videos of many churches in the South.
