I am amazed that no-one has yet mentioned The Goodies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Goo...28TV_series%29 It was, perhaps, the favourite show of my childhood. I also enjoyed a lot of other British comedy shows, most of which have already been mentioned - To the Manor Born, The Good Life, Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister. A bit later, I also enjoyed The Young Ones and Fawlty Towers. Then came Mr Bean and the four Blackadder series (of which I enjoyed the last the most). Another Brit comedy that hasn't been mentioned, is "Dad's Army". Set in WWII, it focussed on the lives on mostly inept members of a British Home Guard unit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dad%27s_Army

One of my favo(u)rites was Rik Mayall's The New Statesman.
