Anyone liking Vintage Car Designs better than modern? - Page 3

There are some big advantages to vintage cars. Unlike new cars they are not going to go down in value. Insurance companies offer really cheap rates, under the theory that they won't be driven much. Also in some states, as long as you have a current plate somewhere in the car, you can display a plate from the year of the car. This may not seem like a big deal but if your in a city that issues traffic tickets using data from a camera, when you pass through a red light, the computer has no one to send the ticket to.

Take your modern cars and stuff them, I roll old-school style:

Sometimes one feels like vintage ... sometimes he doesn't.

I'm surprised no one has posted a pic of or mentioned the sl300 yet. I really like older BMW's too. 2002, E30 M3, E34 M5 and the 635 Csi just to mention a few. Wouldn't say no to a 250 GTO either, mind you.

i enjoy the aesthetics of an old car but hated the weekends replacing bits and peices.

modern cars with old fashioned aesthetics are the ideal compromise. except there is absolutely no compromise with Morgans (in my opinion)

for the enviornmentally conscious

Agreed. 2001 was a great year for BMW.

I just love the styling of late 60s and early 70s Italian sportscars, especially ones designed by Giugiaro, Bertone, etc.

I drove that car through the south of France last time I was there. WAY to big for a land obviously designed by and for midgets. But other than that, about as good as a passat.

The old muscle cars were the best. Dodge, Chevy, Ford, hell even the old Porches were all awesome. Those old BMW's and Mercedes don't look nearly as nice as the newer models.

No, really though, I guess it's just a matter of opinion. As well, it's a matter of bank account, because the 540K special roadster I posted makes the price of a modern MB pale in comparison.

I was mostly talking about the pics on the first page of the thread. I'm sure there are quite a few nice classic models, but most of the new BMW's and Mercedes have such nice lines and body styles that it really makes the older ones look dumpy.

The 1930's Benz's (especially the higher echelon: SSK, 500/540 K's, 770's, etc...) look better than any of the MB's built today.
