Can you get rid of shoe tassles/fringes?

Love these shoes, except for the tassles or fringes (or whatever they should be called), which I hate.
Is it possible to get rid of tassles without destroying the shoe?

Those are called Kiltie loafers. The shoe was made to accommodate them and their removal would be problematic. First, it would look bad if the kiltie was simply cut off. Then if you opened up the seam that secures the kiltie, and removed it entirely, I don't think that you could simply resew the seam, you would probably have to deal with some excess leather. I wouldn't mess with them.

You could probably use an exacto knife and very carefully cut the fringes away, but they would never look absolutely perfect.

I think they're totally cool with them.

You should leave the kiltie on or pick a different shoe.

And a good choice would be the Edward Green Montpellier...
