Michael Jackson IS Bad: Shut up!

I got bored and skimmed through some reviews for music and concert videos. I was skeptical, but "Michael Jackson: Live in Budapest" was earning some rave reviews. I didn't think this freak manchild, bleached skinned freak of a eunuch had anything to say or contribute post Thriller. Was I wrong.

MJ is straight up full blown pimpage in this concert video. Even the opening minute and a half is incredible. The teenage girls (and boys) shriek at the top of their lungs when Michael Jackson "enters" the stage. The man just stands there for a full minute. Then the crowd goes wild AGAIN when MJ just looks left! The dancing is incredible. The man is a sight to behold.

Yes, he does lip sync. Yes, he's as pale as a turnip. It doesn't matter though. He's the greatest performer, arguably of his era. Maybe of all time.

Even if you hate this cat, you'll be awestruck...

This is one of my favorite live performances to watch from the Budapest concert...

I wonder how that overzealous fan took the news of his death. I'm gonna guess "not well".

I can't wait until his next tour.

You know, he patented those shoes that allow him to lean forward 45°.

I don't really get it, though. There not even an illusion that he's actually singing, and whenever it looks like there's a dance move that might be cool, the camera cuts away to something else. The whole sense of the performance is undone by the fast-cut editing.

Secular humanism is giving way to a new cult of the dead. Instead of pyramids we have Anna Nicole's breast implants and Jacko's nose prosthesis.

You know, for a long long time I'd forgotten what made MJ so special. Then I re-watched the Thriller video and saw MJ as a young man with a great voice and an engaging smile who obviously enjoyed what he was doing. Now - once I remember what he once was - now I mourn him.

After MJ died it came out that he was an Ebay addict ( using multiple accounts ). And I'll venture that he was strictly a buyer.

It would be interesting to see his Ebay feedback and purchases. Maybe he bought something from you sho'nuff.

US music critics are just downright stupid when it comes to MJ and they spill so much misinformation that is unbeliavble. Contrary to what they like people to believe MJ was NOT at his peak at Thriller time world wide. In fact very few people saw or heard of him at the time (think outside of US and EU). There was no MTV in the rest of the world plus MJ didn't even toured internationally. It was the BAD world tour what actual made him "Michael Jackson" that he became in the world plus at that time --late 80s-- many MTV stations had developed across the world that played his videos giving rest of the world a good idea what the who-haa was about.

He was highest paid (in his career) right before the time of Dangerous album (around the time he signed that $890 million worth deal with Sony). Plus this HBO concert which you mentioned from Romania paid him $18 million for broadcasting rights alone I think.

Most people think they know MJ's moves but they often repate the images in their head and notions without actually seeing what there was. Huge part of that is MJ's fault for creating a image for 10 years (1993-2003) that led people to think nothing positive.

anyways, from MJ's performace in concerts. The later leg of Bad world tour 88' as about as good as it gets (I would say Dangerous but it would be close) his moves and energy at the time was exteremly refined and had none of that unrefined energy you see on stage around Thriller time (Victory tour). Plus all the songs are fully live in Bad world tour.

People can call him anything and usually getaway with it because his image makes it easier to do that plus the life he lived but if you focus on the man when he appeared on stage... it is indeed a sight to behold.

Very few entertainers, if any (internationally) can cause the effect on audience they way he did. I had a chance to see him in 92-93 Singapore and it was just amazing to see a single lone 115lb man keep a stadium full of 78000 capacity crowd on their toes. This of course was before he was free of all his worries and pain that followed in later years.
