Just a big Jack White fan and well, being in my mid-40s I probably have no right posting in this thread anyway

AIC has a very unique sound. I can't say that I've ever heard anything like them...kind of a refined acidy metal sound. FWIW Jar Of Flies is one of a handful of albums I can listen to end to end and then play all over again.

I always hated AIC and don't know much about their sound other than that fucking unplugged drudgery. But if you're looking for dark and doomy: Om Sunn 0))) High on Fire Kyuss The Desert Sessions Black Keys (Sabbath-y where the White Stripes are Zeppelin-y) Earth Witch Go to Holy Mountain Records (http://www.holymountain.com/) and browse their bands.

Really annoyed I can't remember the name of the popular stoner rock/metal band that has nautical scenes on a couple of their album covers.

It occurs to me that I might be thinking AIC is more early Sabbathy than they actually are. But fuck it, I love me some stoner/doom Stoner is the chill/lounge of metal, FWIW. Not so angsty at all. First 8 minutes of Sleep's Dopesmoker (which is an hour-long instrumental): Sleep, Dragonaut

This is good news. I keep meaning to pick it up - knowing it's good will motivate me to actually do so.
