Perception of young guy smoking cigars.

Just trying to get a consensus here.

What do you think when you see young guys (19-27) smoking cigars. Is it cool, or does it come off try-hard. What do you think.

If the thought comes to your mind that it is "trying to hard", then it most likely is. The answer to your question is yes. The only reason you should by a cigar at that age is for a blunt wrap.

Likely. Herfing is about the taste and personal enjoyment, not to be a cockfaug in front of some acquaintances.

you can tell when someone is enjoying a cigar vs. blowing smoke.

I agree. The douches are the kids in casinos walking around with Greycliffs and Opus Xs coughing and looking for places to spit. A young man enjoying a cigar and a cup of coffee at a lounge, however, is not a douche by any means.

As try-hard as anything else you're likely to do.

Smoking a cigar like anything else depends on how you do it and the persona you emit. If you are doing it because you genuinely like smoking and enjoy the craftsmanship you likely will not look foolish. If you are trying to put on appearances and play dress up with the cigar you will. If you take it as enjoying fine wine and friends, you'll be fine.

+1. I am young, yet I love scotch, I don't drink it for aesthetic reasons. Yet if I order it, I get the sense that someone may think I'm the goober newb.

You're young, you should be doing Cuervo shots out of the waitress's asshole in the back alley.

Being the guy who orders a $15 pour of single malt when his friends are dropping Jegerbombs isn't usually too cool. I'm not defending Jeger or shit like that, but there are some times to go a little "low class," beer for instance, to not be viewed as a prick.

Who care what people think. I started smoking cigars at age 14.

Haha, thanks for this gem. As most people are saying...there is a time and a place for everything. Don't do it just to look cool because you probably won't.
