Recommend older prosumer digicam? S5? G9?

I am looking for a pro-sumer digital camera, something will full manual controls that I can learn to use.

I am only really familiar with the Canon S3/S5is and the G9/G10 line, not sure about offerings from any other manufacturers like Panasonic Lumix or Sony's.

Looking to spend about $200-$300 CDN (craigslist) on the used market.

I am looking more for image quality and flexibility of controls rather than straight up resolution.

Thanks

Well for brand new 2009 models I'm sure... The Canon G11 looks sweeeet. On Craigslist locally I've found S5is and G9 for around $300...

I bought an S2 awhile ago. It was a great decision before I jumped into the DSLR game. Look around for the new model, either craigslist it or amazon it. S5 is around 300-350

The panasonic LX3 is a great prosumer compact. Fast zoom, an actual wideangle lens, good resolution, good screen as well. It has high ISO capabillities, and a few other niceties. It is out of your price range, but you might be able to find one cheaper. I didnt rec. the G10 (even though I am canon biased) b/c it is just too large and bulky for most, and a good portion of the things it can do the LX3 can do as well in a smaller package. If your gonna go G10 as a primary camera you might as well go DSLR. So LX3 or G10, if both of those cant be found in your price range then the G9 is the way to go.
