I don't need to carry a ton, my laptop in a neoprene sleeve, a couple file folders, a small notebook, pens, checkbook, etc. all fit well in the 256. I've even used it as an overnight bag a couple times, it's surprisingly capacious when you need it to be. The 257 is great for a student, which is what my brother bought it for, who needs to carry a laptop and a few books maybe, but for my everyday carry to work bag the 256 has been the right choice.

Found this too. Thanks Vaio!

Hey Crane's, when are you guys getting a new shipment of olive green 256s?

I placed an order a while back, and recently email you about it but haven't gotten a response.

Stupid question time. I looked through the thread and at the Filson web site, and I didn't see anything, so here goes.

I just bought the Levi's x Filson trucker jacket (the brown one, not the new green one), and because it's oiled tin cloth, it's, well, oily on the surface of the coat.

Is there anything I can/should do about this? Am I going to get some of the oil on my skin and clothes while the jacket's breaking in, so I should just deal with it? I assume this goes away after a while.

Just call the store. Tell them you are interested in some Filson gear and follow their Style Forum thread. They will know what you are talking about. These guys are seasoned veterans with this stuff.

You could get dip some bread in it.

But seriously. I got mine a few weeks ago. It stank up a room when I first opened the box.

After a few wears the musty smell went away and the oiliness went down. It's still a little greasy but not as bad as at first. I wear it with work shirts so it's not a big deal.

Now it just needs to cool down in LA so I can wear it regularly! It's still a cool piece... got looks when I wore it out last weekend at night.
