Thank you. I haven't got the garment yet (eBay) so can't check that! My suspicion is this is relatively old (90s??) because it shows a "lot" number rather than a style number.

^yes the black weekender is cut slimmer from the other weekenders. I tried them on first hand at Hilton's Tent City in Boston a couple months back. and the black weekender is an awesome jacket thats cut a little slimmer. the only knock on it is that they don't offer a black hood for it (they only have the normal green/brown/ hoods).

normall filson jackets are cut fuller (almost a size bigger) unless its a collaboration like the Levi's stuff (which was actually cut super slim).

just try zipping in a north face/or another brand's zip in vest. usually the stores that carry filson will have north face too. the one thing with filson jackets is that they are heavy, so think about how heavy zipping in even a mid weight filson vest will make that jacket.

here's something cool I finally tried out from filson:

Filson dog coats for my dog! they have the oiled cloth for wet weather and are reversible, one has an orange cloth for hiking in hunting areas, and the other one is the super warm Mackinaw wool for when its very cold.

Nice what size is that Filson jacket that your Boston is wearing? And is your Boston a puppy or adult?

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in getting a Mac jacket and curious if it can outperform a down jacket. We get -20c regularly here and I hate the bulkiness of the down jacket. I'm going to a store that carries Filson this weekend but what's the fit like and what should I focus on? Do I want it to conform to my body, or do I want it baggy and slightly loose?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Flipstah,

I have a single Mackinaw and find it excellent. I live in the U.K. So have never work it in less than an about -5°c. I have enough room to get a thick wool sweater or really thick hoody underneath. You can also get a double Mackinaw which I imagine must be really substantial

Hope this helps

Thanks! I'll be asking for a 'Double Mackinaw' then.

first, the current Filson thread is in Classic Menswear here.... https://www.styleforum.net/threads/filson-bag-thread-with-pictures.133759/page-947#post-9624878
second, i have a double makinaw. it is an awesome coat with just an oxford shirt down to about 0*c.
any lower than that and youre going to need something else under. remember, it is a button coat, so it may be drafty in front. and it is a bit heavy... 2 layers of thick wool. i absolutely love mine and wear it between 0 and 8c. in this temp range it is warm and very stylish. really, i love the coat. that being said, it will NOT perform as well as a proper down parka below freezing. sorry, it just won't.
below freezing to about -15c i wear a tin cloth field jacket with a down liner. it is incredibly heavy and stiff but it does the job. anything below that, or for long duration outdoors below -5c i wear a north face down parka.

I was looking into the logger mesh caps specifically the otter green version. On different photos the mesh part looks bright green and on others dark green. Do anyone know if there are different versions on the otter green colorway?
