South Beach Nightlife

I'll be in Miami for the weekend - Friday night in the Univ of Miami area and saturday night for a wedding in Miami beach/South Beach area. As I'll be staying with a friend, we'll party with the law students and undergrads friday night in coconut grove. Nothing new there, I've been a few times in the past year. The question is where should we look into going saturday night. I've been meaning to party in south beach the past 2 or 3 times i've visited but never got around to it, so we're making it a priority this time. The goal: - Friday is chill, college bar night so we want something a bit more special, sophisticated or non-bingedrinking crowd. - He's a student and I'm an rising big timer(2 years!), so we're not looking to pop bottles of dom. However a higher priced bar with a lot of style and sexy crowd and good music we'll be open to. - We will most likely plan on checking out 2-3 bars so a variety of ideas are welcome. Maybe a dive, then a chicer place and somewhere for dancing - latin/top 40/techno. Here's what I've found so far: Buck 15 The Vagabond Purdy Lounge. Other ideas? Thanks!

The problem with south beach is things come and go so fast that information ages fast.

But, from years ago, I remember the Delano had a good scene. I remember BED was popular when it opened, though I don't know now. Crobar was something. If I was going I would start at Delano and get a group going/ find out where the new hot spots are.

I do remember Osteria del Teatro being one of the best Italian restaurants in the are though, very small, though to get in.

At any rate this is more of a bump than up to date information.

Was there a couple of years ago. Sat on the patio at the Clevelander right across from the beach. Great place to people watch. I was there on business with people I work with so it was pretty mellow. Couple of burgers, some beers, conversation, people watching, then back to the hotel where those that were up for more than mellow got shitty in the hotel bar...

I don't remember much of my recent trip to South Beach. I do remember Mansion, which is very hit or miss both music and people-wise. I also vaguely remember hitting up Mango's on SB and the Clevelander....both were good.....I THINK.
