It really depends on how much you weigh naturally... if you weigh like 200 pounds theres no way your going to cut to 155 safely.. its impossible.. some people go extreme and extreme things tend to happen..

You don't even understand the simple concept of cutting weight in terms of this discussion. Do you understand that every time you watch a boxer or MMA fighter in the 205 weight class, more than not they are going into the fight weighing 215+ after the weigh in of the previous night? MMA fighter Georges St. Pierre steps into the ring at 220lbs after his 205 weigh in. It's not a stupid idea, it's an established practice that goes back decades. Nobody cuts 20% of their bodyweight to begin with, either. Now shut up.

Not always. fanny pac got his AZZ knocked the fuck out twice when he cut too much water weight in attempt to fight in weight classes that were not suitable for how large his frame was. He knows the effects of dehydration, see his fight vs Oscar DLH along with the upcoming one with Cotto for the championship which is held at a catch weight.

I believe Mayweather purposely came in two pounds overweight during his weigh in with Marquez to make a statement to fanny pac. Mayweather wants to tell fanny pac that fanny pac can go suck a big one if fanny expects Mayweather to accept a catch weight that would be leaned in favor of fanny pac. Mayweather managed to gain leverage for the future negotiation after embarrassing the man that made fanny pac look silly twice.

Cheers to the smartest fighter in the sport of boxing.
