Cutting water weight?

I knew a fighter who died recently from a KO due to forcing his body too hard via dehydration to make weight. How much water weight can most people cut until they fuck themselves over like Oscar DLH did against fanny pac?

why would someone do this? if you lose 2% water your body will lose 10% power. this must be another stupid idea where some people think that natural limits can be ignored ..

when is match? i think you can safely de hydrate for 2or 3 days before weighing in, but after that you should hydrate yourself to the original weight. but it doe snot make sense simply cut down on your caloric intake and contiue training, without water intake you should nto train. you will probably lose more wieight for the weigh in.

Here is why college and high school wrestlers cut water weight - the extra couple pounds of muscle helps, especially for the lighter weightclasses. Its common sense.

^ Yeah, and the difference can be more than a couple of pounds if you fail to make weight. For instance, I wrestled at 215 in HS, and the next weightclass was 275. I think i usually had to cut 5-6 lbs the couple of days before a match, but I'd rather do that than 1) have to forfeit at that weightclass, or 2) have to wrestle the guy who had to cut to make 275!

It is the most important part of our diet I believe. To try to loose weight or in any way to force your body to change by dehydrating your self (at any level ) is just plain stupid and so disrespectful to your own body I cant believe that anyone would do that.
We need water to function properly. Dehydration causes many more illnesses that we associate with it.

Fighters do it all the time. Your body fat % can only get so low. The only kind of weight left to lose when you're at a low body fat % is water weight. They do it to be able to fight in the lighter weight class in order to have a size advantage. MMA fighters lose 10-20 pounds of water for their weighs is all the time.

i am not sure greco roman but in boxing as soon as you do the weigh in (it might be the saem in greco roman), you will gain that back after eating and drinking, it is temporary loss of weight for any athlete. there is not a permant way to lose this weight. so again the question is when is the match? no one cuts this wiehgt without weigh in in the future.
