Fine choices but for a jazz newbie Ornette is quite an acquired taste imho.

I have very different jazz tastes than most here.. I'm pretty much a Jazz Noob, with my primary interest being Classical. For Jazz I've leaned towards two guys.. Pat Metheny and Keith Jarrett. My most listened to LP's are:

Keith Jarrett: Solo Concerts
Keith Jarrett: Koln Conert
Pat Metheny: 70/71

Metheny is Guitar and Jarrett is Piano.. stuff like Miles Davis Kind of Blue I do enjoy, but for some reason just doesn't do it for me. perhaps its because I've always enjoyed Strings and Piano over Brass in Classical, and its translated to my Jazz tastes. I personally have no idea if these albums are considered to be good, however.

Aw, come on, now! What does it matter what the rest of us think? If you like them, you are right. If you don't, you are right.
