For me is has always been this:

On October 4, 1975, Wonder performed at the historical "Wonder Dream Concert" in Kingston, Jamaica, a Jamaican Institute for the Blind benefit concert. Along with Wonder, the three original Wailers — Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer — performed together for the last time.

It had to be mind blowing.

The Who's 25 May 1978 performance of Won't Get Fooled Again at Shepperton Film Studios for the Kids are Alright. It was the last song that Keith Moon performed with them and if you've seen the movie, pretty fcking awesome!

Seeing the Beatles would have been cool. Seeing Elton John in his prime. Seeing Pink Floyd's Pulse would have been amazing. Seeing Nirvana early on would have been cool.

Of any possible concert event in history you're going with Husker Du? Or did I miss a requirement about this being concerts that happened while you were alive?

I assumed it was concerts I would have had a chance to see but didn't. If time wasn't an issue I'd probably go with a Liszt recital, Chopin's debut of his fourth ballade, the premiere of Beethoven's 9th symphony (which he conducted), Sviatoslav Richter's 1958 Sofia recital, and Bernstein's conducting of Shostakovich's fifth - with Shostakovich in the audience.

^^^ add to that Beveridge Webster's reading of the Hammerklavier sonata, in concert, alledgedly at full tempo. I cannot imagine such a thing being possible, but I have heard that tapes exist of this.

1. Van Morrison's Too Late to Stop Now performance(s). 2. Any Beatles Concert. 3. The Band's The Last Waltz. 4. Any 50s or 60s jazz club performance by Miles Davis, Joe Henderson, John Coltrane, Sonny Stitt, Horace Silver, Thelonious Monk, or Charles Mingus. 5. Woodstock (ideally transorted by helicopter). 6. Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon concert and early period club dates. 7. The Police in concert. 8. Any Steely Dan. Missed a chance in Atlanta this year.

If I have only pick one it would be Joy Division at the Factory night.

Others would include:

Can in the Damo era.

Punk festival at the Roxy - first Wire and Siouxie gigs.

Talking Heads 'Stop Making Sense' or a CBGB gig.

Numerous Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty events, and the original 'Chill Out' rooms with Cauty and Alex Patterson.

Sly and the Family Stone

James Brown with the original JBs (Bootsy and Phelps!).

Premieres of 'Rites of Spring' and 4'33" and any of the Cunningham/Cage/Rauschenberg performances.

Roy Orbison 'Black and White Night'

Fair enough. I suppose that does put a few too many options into play. If's that's the case, I've got nothing
