Crane's - Thanks for the great pics and review of your new Tobacco goodies. I have to say, that sunset shot as absolutely breathtaking!
djst - I appreciate your feedback with your daily bag of choice, quite helpful. The Medium Simple BP holds a ton. I can only imagine using the Large as a three or four day travel bag! About those photos, we seem to be guilty of running a bit behind getting current pics updated, it's a perpetual struggle around here it seems. My understanding it that we'll slowly roll over the Dark Coffee to become more along the EIEIO realm. If you'll shoot an email to my attention I can check on a specific product for you (firstname.lastname@example.org), but you'll have to say that you need me specifically. Otherwise a well-meaning leather elf will try to help you instead!
mrrosenthal - I have a lot of the old leather, and also some of the new. I see no difference in the thickness of my old bags and wallets except for one thing. Dave has really tried to remove as much thickness from the wallets as possible. One of the only complaints that we had about them was that they were just too dang thick! He removed lining at any point that he thought it wouldn't compromise the structure or integrity, they are definitely thinner by design. We haven't had a price increase in a while so I'm not really sure what he's referring to there. If you get one of our products and you aren't satisfied with it you can return it within 30 days of receipt. Also, you're covered by our warranty over the materials and workmanship for a lifetime so hopefully that alleviates any further concerns. To answer your question about purchasing older products, yes it's possible. You can typically find them on eBay or here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/311074852310305/
The Facebook group isn't ours. There are a few of our older style leather on Dave's Deals, but I don't know how long that will be the case.
chev4x4 - Glad you like your Dave's Deal, it looks good! You're right, the Tobacco easily scuffs and scratches and it's not for everyone. Maybe you should sell it and get the Dark Coffee Brown instead? Yep, that is some thick leather and nope, I'm not man enough to take it hiking!
NOW, for all of you curious about that Utility Duffel ......there's really not much to show! It is truly just a big bag, no frills, no pockets, just a plain ole leather duffel bag. It would be quicker to get in and out of than the Waterbag (for djst) by a few seconds.
Thanks Susan, I'll drop you a line when I'm getting close to my trip to the US in January. Maybe you can get me the nicest DCB medium Waterbag with the most beautiful scars on it then.
I disagree about the "nothing to see" answer about the Utility Duffel. All other products have really helpful size comparisons with Dave wearing them. That gives you a really good idea of how the bag wears, looks and how large it is. The current utility duffel video just shows an adorable giraffe!
