I got about 3/4 of the way through and I thought I should have taken before and after pics. I did not. I will take some after pics and post up them up. You should be able to find a pretty true representation of the before somewhere on the webz.
Suffice it to say, it is now 3 weeks after I treated said bag, and I love the effect.

I wish people would take pics of these bags after some wear and tear.

Oh, ok, got it. The reason I ask is that we usually have multiple promotions going on at any one time.

The promotion with the posted pics is a bi-annual contest we do. There are a variety of categories you can win in and we usually receive 500 or so pictures. I'm not involved in that promotion much. That's Presidente Dave's baby and he loves heading it up. All that to say, a far as I know, none of the winners have told us they were Style Forum members also but I wouldn't be surprised if they were.

Hi,

I am thinking of ordering a wallet and possibly a satchel or briefcase, however I'm in two minds after reading conflicting reviews. Some on this forum and another forum claim the products are not as good as advertised. Other seem to really like them.

Does anyone use saddleback wallets and what do you think of them?
I have these two.

Big Wallet

Large Bi Fold

The first one I bought to use as a travel wallet. Plenty of pockets for organization and it's built like a tank. I bet I could skip it across concrete and not worry about anything inside getting damaged or lost.

The second one I bought because it's an interesting design. It's made for international currencies and it has this nifty leather divider to separate currencies/denominations or to just keep a hidden cash stash. It's made from boot leather and pigskin and is the heaviest billfold I have ever seen. I don't think I'll be able to kill this one in my lifetime.

The pic with the dog sticking it's head in the bag is my brother's

Funny thing is I was looking through the pictures on Styleforum and when I saw that one I thought, "Gee, that looks a lot like Peanut with Joel's briefcase." Then a couple days later he sent me an email that he'd won.

I recieved a Saddleback Leather Briefcase for Christmas. I like the look... but mine came with some dark marks on the front flap of the briefcase. I find them to be rather unsitely... Is this normal marking for a bag right out of the box?
Mine has a few similar marks on it. I have no idea what it might be from.

In my case they aren't in very visible places, so since I live overseas and didn't know when I'd get another chance to buy a Saddleback I went ahead and bought it from the guy selling it second-hand (it hadn't been out of the box except for him to realize it was way to big for him)

The bag I purchased has some markings on the exterior...is that a defect ?

NO, absolutely not ! Unless you are talking about a damaged bag (knife cut, etc.) you are probably seeing the evidence of a scarring event somewhere in this animals history. Actually, scarring is a common feature, and for some of our customers the more scars the better...the scars give the bag more character.
If you don't like them Id imagine they could swap them out for one without scratches.

I got a Saddleback Briefcase for Christmas as well (present to myself) in Coffee Brown. I was expecting the center strap to be 2-rivet, but they shipped me a bag with 3-rivets similar to that last picture. I don't like the 3 rivets, and much prefer the 2-rivet design. Did they change the style recently?

Yes, that actually was a minor design change.

That's correct. It was from a scarring event. That is somewhat of a trademark of Saddleback bags. They scratch easily and many times have scars. Many really like it as it gives character to the bag and shows the toughness of the leather.

If it really bothers you, you can return the bag and we'll ship you a replacement with no scars. Just call Jana, Jenny, Susan or Cinnamon at customer service at 210-858-5210 and they'll let you know what you need to do.

I really, really wish the briefcase came with brass hardware to match the rivets. Or brushed silver hardware.

I understand your sentiment, but I personally wouldn't like the look of a briefcase like that. The rivets are meant to reinforce the weaker seam areas. They are meant to blend into the leather. In other words, the rivets are there more to make the bag indestructible and not so much for style.

+1. The bright silver hardware ruins them.
