Crane's, That's a pretty awesome looking bag you have there. I should be getting in my tobacco brown front pocket backpack today, but I'm worried the color will be "too light". What way would you (or anyone else) reccomend darkening it a bit, i.e. types of conditioners that may darken the leather a bit.
Thanks for any and all help.
Thanks. Boot oil will darken it a bit. Since my bag tends to see water I'll also use snoseal or Obenauf LP once in a blue moon to keep it waterproof. That'll darken it up quite a bit. What will really do it though is frequent use and exposure to sunlight and the elements. Those two pictures above show how much my bag has darkened over the course of about a year. Keep in mind this process takes time and it can't really be rushed. I have a belt pouch made from basically the same leather that's about 30 years old. It's gone from tan to a medium golden brown with dark almost black marbling. If that pouch could talk oh the stories it could tell. LOL!
When it stops raining I'll take a pic of both items next to each other. The difference in color is dramatic but it'll give you an idea of what your backpack will look like in 3 decades if you use it often.
