The Medium Bi-fold was just a bit thicker by not quite 1/8 of an inch. I didn't squeeze either one down at all. The Medium Bi-fold measured 1 inch at the thickest point.
This was with the wallets closed/folded. ~Susan~
It's actually the opposite. The Medium is thicker because of the individual card slots. There is leather in between each card compared to the small where cards are stacked. Stacked cards take up the least amount of space.
I have the small bifold and keep 4 cards in each slot and several bills in the cash area. I really liked the medium but it was too thick for my tastes.
Why not the Classic Wallet Business/Credit Card? I use mine every day with 5-6 cards and if you're only using two cards more frequently, placing them in the far back makes them super easy to get out by just sticking in one finger behind the card stack and pulling out - that first card on each side of the wallet will pop out easily! If you're not using cash, this is by far the slimmest option from Saddleback. Placing your two most frequently used cards frontmost also works well if you prefer. It's really only the middle card that can be a little trickier to get out without also pulling out another one at the same time.
I personally don't like to keep it in my back pocket but then again I've always preferred the front pocked since it's easier to reach and feels more secure. But the Credit Card wallet is certainly slim enough to fit in either pocket.
Does anyone here own the new round satchels? I'd love to see some photos showing what they can fit, particularly the Medium size. The specs on Saddleback Leather's website are pretty confusing:
Medium Round Satchel
How is it possible that the inside pocket (the one with the pigskin flap, presumably) can be wider than the width of the entire bag? In Dave's video, he demonstrates that the Large satchel fits a 13" MacBook Air comfortably in its sleeve, but if these measures are correct, even the Medium Round Satchel should comfortably fit a 13" MacBook Pro (the new retina version which is only 12.35 inches / 31.4 cm wide).
Anyone owning these new satchels, could you help shed some light on this? I'm currently choosing between the Medium and the Large, and yes, I do own that 13" MBP Retina, so I'm very curious about whether it would fit inside that inside pigskin flap-pocket or if that's just wishful thinking.
Thanks Susan, this is super helpful information! I'm glad to see that you guys are active in this thread again. Based on what you say, the measurements listed on the site is incorrect. You say that the 12" satchel fits something like 10.7" in the inner pigskin pocket - that makes a lot more sense than the 12.5" listed on the website. :)
That rules out the Medium size for me, so I should go for the Large instead. Using your measurements as a guide, I would assume that the 14" satchel would fit something like 12.7" wide in the pigskin pocket - is that fair? If so, it will fit my 13" MBP Retina just perfectly (it's 12.35" wide).
To be overly clear, this is the measurement I'm trying to figure out:
Also, Susan, if you have time, I would definitely appreciate if you could put your medium satchel on a scale with the shoulder strap tucked inside it. The reason why I ask this is because I have been burned in the past - the listed weight of my Medium Thin Briefcase on your website is 4.25 lbs / 2.0 kg, but in reality, mine weighs over 2.3 kg (which is the listed weight of the Large version of the briefcase on the product page). So this is why I want to be really sure that the stated weights of the round satchel is correct before I go ahead and purchase it.
I would like to share my Saddleback Leather items. Next target will be suitcase and belts. The large briefcase had just been applied with Chamberlaines milk. Hopefully will lightened up like the small sacthel and large wallet (Tobacco Brown - shows I'm a simple guy ).
Many thanks to the people from Saddleback Leather Co. Products and services are the best.
May I know the brand of the boot. I think I'd like to order one.
Edit: Found it. Lazy of me. Its Wolverine 1000 Mile.
Thanks, I think I have what I need. I'll definitely be ordering the Large Round Satchel as soon as it's back in stock (DCB) and I can't wait to pick it up during my next trip to the States at the end of this month!
