I considered one of these, but they look way to heavy for daily use.

I personally carry a Large Coffee Brown briefcase and love it. But, it definitely is a bit heavy for some people. In that case I would recommend one of our Thin Briefcases or Satchels for a lighter bag.

how does the carbon black leather look when aged, does it not age as well as the brown leather bags? it seems like everyone shuns the black leather bag when it seems so nice to me...is there something particularly offsetting?

The functionality is awesome. I'm amazed at what I can pack -- I've taken my 15" laptop, both my law casebooks (thick as phonebooks but not as big), and all the other usual stuff I carry with aplomb. Or two computers, book, other stuff. The fact that the pockets aren't covered took a lot to get used to. I resorted to putting the smaller objects in a little case, which works out very well. Comfort is awesome except only in one respect -- in backpack form I do feel the bottom D-rings against my back on occasion, and am glad that I am not wider in the back or that might be uncomfortable. . I definitely wouldn't have any other bag though. I really am wedded to it. Someone posted a picture of a carbon black brief in another thread and I thought it looked pretty awesome. May be next. ~ H

Ok.... my last question didn't get a response but maybe this one will. Is there any kind of affiliate deals/promotions currently available from the good people at Saddleback?

Yes they have a Christmas deal going in. It depends on what you buy but it's a mix of gift cards and products. I can't find the link to the actual promo but if you add something to the cart there's a link you click up top to pick your freebie from if it's a qualified item. OK found the link.... Christmas Special.

Hey there everyone, very sorry for not getting back to you sooner. For some reason I haven't been receiving notifications of people posting in the thread plus I've been traveling quite a bit. But I'm here!

The carbon black briefcase is a bit more professional or "pretty" in my opinion. I think that's why it's not super popular as Saddleback briefcases are liked by many for their ruggedness. The chestnut briefcase is also somewhat professional looking but is very popular. The carbon black will break in nicely but the wear will be less apparent then a tobacco or coffee color.

Cheers,
Jonathan
