They reduced the leather a little too much on that panel. I'd return it. The scuffs are going to be there from this type of leather, especially this light shade. They go away with a little body oil like from your forehead. No really, try it.

And your nose! Try your nose!

Like I said, if it were mine, the scratches wouldn't be a concern (I'd do worse to the bag in short order).

A new bag is on its way. I'll post an update when my friend receives it.

What'd you do with the old one??

I didn't do anything. My friend returned it.

Howdy, folks -

Just checking in - been over a year since I visited here. Still happily sporting my large briefcase, which is 2 years old now and looking as awesome as ever!

I wanted to report that upon contacting Saddleback customer support, they were VERY friendly and helpful when I reported my problem with my medium bifold wallet cracking my cards. They just asked for a few pictures to see what I was talking about, and instantly shipping me out a newer version of the wallet that's supposedly been corrected for this! While I'm a little bummed that I have to break in another wallet, I'm super-jazzed to know my faith in the Saddleback brand hasn't been ill-placed and that they really do honor the 100-year warranty!!

I'm also curious: Recently aquired some coasters and mouse pad for my newly redone home office, and will be getting two large deskpads in the near future.

I'd love to know if in some of the upcoming products and prototypes there is a leather desk caddy? Or leather valet? Dave is always mentioning in the youtube videos that there's new products in the works, so we can never be sure when something might come out. My timeline for getting these items is pretty short, but if I knew there was going to be a Saddleback offering, I'd gladly wait!

The scuffs are what they are, but I am particularly disappointed in the visible outline of the support under the handle. Not at all the quality I was expecting. I hope his issues are resolved or I'll feel like a sucker for suggesting this bag to him.

Updated. The new bag came:

I still don't love how the support bulges out along the top panel, but it looks much nicer. Kudos to Saddleback for getting things right.

It should not bulge like that...

I agree. But SLC told my friend that is how it is supposed to be.

Must be that model...other bags have that support showing from the inside lining only
post #1196 of 1212
Yeah... that looks pretty ugly. I wouldn't want to be seeing that if I paid what $500-$600 for a bag?

For the bag that Scott made for me, he used a really thick, tough piece of leather under there, and I can carry my laptop and charger in there without any support problems from the handle/top area.

I'm interested in purchasing a Saddleback leather large briefcase in the chocolate brown. Can anybody give me their preferences for the suede or pigskin options. I called the company & they said that I would have to wait for the suede option but they should have some shortly. Not sure if it is worth the upcharge & wait (not that I am in a rush).

I can't imagine they will charge more for the unlined version. I think the pigskin liner helps keep shape...the side gussets are unlined currently and that seems to be where you'd want the flexibilty.

Even if they were the same price and there was no wait I'd lean towards pigskin. Pigskin seems nicer looking (to me) and more durable.

I'm surprised there would be an upcharge for suede. Perhaps because manufacturing one is a one-off deal.

Suede sheds. Why would you want that?
