Thanks for the Flickr link. If anyone else knows of any reviews or discussions about Saddleback products, please share. We'd love to read them and post them here for transparency's sake.

I don't know what issues Saddleback Leather has had in the past, but before we invited Saddleback Leathers as an affiliate, I asked several owners whose opinions and judgement I respect re. the company's products. I don't own a Saddleback Leather Bag, but I have inspected one in great detail. My conclusion is that if you are looking for a very rugged bag, and a rugged look, Saddleback Leather is a good choice.

Karl (of Crane's) says that they are the Filson of leather bags, and I agree that this is an apt comparison. The bag that I inspected seemed to be as tough as nails, and reinforced in any number of stress areas. Like Filson products, they seem designed for rugged use more than anything else.

It's sort of silly to compare a Saddleback Leather bag to a man bag by a European luxury house. They are simply two different animals. Incidentally, we have at least one mega thread on those, if that's what you want.

All I can say is if you ever did incorporate such a feature I'd get a duplicate bag just to have it.

For honesty's sake, after reading your post about American products, you should know that all of our production is done in Mexico. We have a production company based in Leon, Mexico. I understand the political arguments on both sides for and against outsourcing and globalization. We don't promote our company on our website as an "American original" company. The majority of our employees work in the States, but it's just too expensive to produce in the States. We'd lose the American jobs we have created if we tried. Unfortunately that's the sad truth, but there are a lot of Mexican families putting food on the table also because of the jobs we've created down there as well. Whatever your views are on this issue, I think everyone can agree that at the very least globalization has brought millions of people around the globe out of poverty. Cheers, Jonathan
Hey I do hope your workers weren't living in poverty before they were hired by you. Even if they were, at least they can now put food on their family; it's a good thing to know. P.S. this post is totally a joke which is a very serious thing.

Yes, that's the one I'm enquiring about too. I don't think I've seen it before.

That is actually a new product that is yet to be launched but is still in the testing, re-designing phase. It is going to be called the Saddleback Water Bag. Like it?
