A-hole on Amazing race

yes, I watch the amazing race, lets get past that basic character flaw

this season has a new A-hole. a lawyer. anyway, in the bit where he introduces himself, he is lifting weights and then "sparing" with his girlfriend. his "sparing" looks unbelievably bad, but that is another thing altogether.

he is lifting in a seated military press, weights that seem to be 25 pound dumbells.

then he talks about how he will win because he has all this muscle mass and is both smart and strong.

so, what kind of an A-hole goes on TV lifting weights that any 14 year old scrawny girl should be able to lift, and brags about it?

lol

hopefully the show instructed him to act a certain way. these "reality" shoes often do that

otherwise, he's just another douche bag.

well, fooey. Guess I'd better hit the weights then: I can't press the 25-pounders.

I was pissed that the "rich and successful" poker player chicks were not eliminated. I hated lawyer guy, but I hate these chicks even more. After having seen a poker player on The Apprentice, and now on AR, these people have some character issues and issues with their approach to life - thinking everything is a game and how they are psychological experts at reading people. Give me a break and find a real job. And I couldn't care less they make boat loads of money.

Plus these chicks are ugly while they think they are all that.

Another word on lawyer-guy. Just because he lifts weights and has muscle does not mean he is in shape or otherwise physically prepared for amazing race. His ego will be his downfall, and hopefully soon.

T,

sorry, didn't mean to offend you. I more meant that that isn't the type of weight one brags about. I can't run a 12 minute mile, I wouldn't ever say publicly that speed was a top skill of mine.

LOL, no really I haven't been around weights in 10 years, at least, and I have no reason at all to press anything over my head. And when I did lift weights, it was squats and deadlifts for decent poundages (300-315 @165), I just always hated exercises that used arm strength. BP and MP were anathema for me.

Anyway it's been running and core exercises for the most part these last few years. Form follows function and all that. No regrets here, and no offense taken.

Funny how lawyer-guy brags how smart he is and great at dealing with adversity but is one of the last to figure out the license plate thing. Then in the car makes some smartass remark about his partner not figuring out the code. The guy doesn't strike me as very bright at all.

Realty show producers know what they're doing. They deliberately give us these people they know we love to hate.

during the introduction scene I told my wife he would be the first team to drop out, I knew he was an idiot.

I am guessing with a lot of hard work an idiot can be a lawyer, just not a very good lawyer. we don't really know how good he is.

Strength is activity specific: weightlifters can lift weights. Thomas may not be able to lift 25 lb dumbells but I bet he can lift 300 pounds overhead of chanel fragrance bottles.

Is this a current season or older one? Obnoxious jerks on AR always come off like their wives (race partners) are two steps away from divorcing them.

I still remember that funny gay Brazilian couple (Cha-Cha-Cha was it?) who would sleep in the Mandarin Oriental in Hongkong when everybody else was sleeping on the streets and stop off the Loewes store to buy fragrance right in the middle of the competition.

+ 1 on the lawyer not seeming too smart. I'm rooting for the team with the guy with Asperger's!

I wonder how fast I could eat one of those wasabi bombs
