But take my opinion with a grain of salt: I've always considered Will Ferrell one of the least funny people the show has ever inflicted on us, though he seemed widely adored until recently.

I consider Will Ferrell a manufactured hero that Lorne Michaels felt he desparately needed. I can't doubt his talent though, even more as a writer than a performer. It's a shame he couldn't do impersonations; his resemblance to George Bush combined with such an ability could have made for Fey-as-Palin epicness.

Well, it's not like you get them for being good either. If that was the case, The Wire would have hundreds. Instead, they didn't even get nominated and Grey's Anatomy cleaned up. No, I'd not judge the worth of a program based on industry awards.

Wow, much kunk h8 lately. What's up with that?

This is quite true on both counts, although for me U2 peaked at Achtung Baby, which was surprising for someone who had every cassette starting with Boy. After AB, they became self-parody

Ooh, Greys. ewwwww.

Given the quality of the SNL writing, I had cause to wonder what would happen quality-wise if Lorne Michaels cribbed his material from the pages of DT's. Or even better: SF-Night-Live, with our cast of merrymen. I could see this. Navigating the in-jokes might be rough, but you've got to start somewhere.

They just don't have the talent they used to, now comedians just want to go straight to movies

It absolutely sucked worse than anything I could remember in the past several years. Just nothing funny about the show, it was horrible. I cringed through the entire weekend update.

What the hell? Have the writers been replaced by a bunch of monkeys? I know SNL hasn't been that good in the past decade, but this is just ridiculously bad for a show that has such a legacy.

I stand in full agreement with you, Sir...
