A search of SF revealed that most individuals advise dropping one size down for John Lobb -- e.g., if you wear US9.5D, you wear UK8.5E in JL. I drop one size down for the C&J 337 last. Can anyone compare the fit of the C&J 337 to the fit of various Lobb lasts?

Thanks in advance.

I drop half a size for 8695.

For 7000 & 8000, if I drop half a size it's a bit too loose, drop a full size then it's a little tight. So I err on the side of a bit loose and put in a pair of insole which solves the fit issue. No experience with 4800.

First, in most shoe brands I usually wear a US 12D. I own one CJ handgrade on the 337 last, but it was purchased from RL, so it's marked in a US size, 11.5D. It is long enough, but slightly tight (OK in the morning, somewhat uncomfortable after a 10-hour day). I also own a CJ benchgrade model, the Darlton wingtip also from RL, sized US 12D (it's a CJ Pembroke on the 325 last). So I go down 1/2 size from my normal US size for the CJ 337 last. When I order my next CJ handgrade, from PLAL, I'll order a UK 11E, to account for the difference between US and UK sizing.

I own one shoe on John Lobb's 8695 last in UK 11E and it's the best fitting shoe I own. For me, the CJ 337 last in US 11.5D is a tighter fit near the balls of my feet than Lobb's 8695 last in UK 11E, but the two are pretty comparable. I would say the lengths of the two are very similar and the width difference is a fractional size, with the 337 last being very slightly narrower. I hope this helps.

I wear US 11D and all my JL (8695, 7000 and 8000) fit best in size UK 10E

I wear an 8.5D and I sually take a 7.5E in Lobb and sometimes an 8E. I've even been able to make certain models work in 7E. There you go AC, I'm no help at all.

I'm a 7.5E U.S.

I wear 7F UKGrenson and EG.

In JL:
I drop half a size on 8695 and 8000 with medium width. (7E UK)
I drop a full size on 7000 with wide width (6.5EE UK) [I hope...as I have a dream pair incoming in this size]

This information, like all questions I ask, is for entertainment purposes only.

I should have added that I am on the narrow side of medium and wear size UK9D in EG. I wear size UK8.5E on the 337 last, which is a bit snugger than the EG but not uncomfortable.

I tried dropping one size down from the C&J 337 last for a 7000 last shoe, but the problem is, the heel is just a bit wide on the wider 7000 last.

Shoe sizing is an odd thing. I tried on several models of Lobb yesterday. I wear a size US9.5D (UK9D in EG) and expected to fit in a size UK8.5E in Lobb. A laceup on the 8000 last was roomy in that size, perhaps due to the stock parallel lacing. I suspect that it is equivalent to US9.5E. A double monk on the 8000 last was slightly snugger, definitely wearable, although I could see a gap between my heel and the back of the shoe. A laceup in size UK8E fit pretty well on the 7000 last. I then tried on a laceup in size UK8E on the 8000 last, and preferred that fit to UK8.5E. Both the 7000 and 8000 lasts are fairly long, so moving down that many sizes doesn't present serious problems.

Yep. That's all I'm getting from this thread. I recently got lucky on a guess though. I bought some Santoni FAM monkstraps on ebay and they fit just right!
