That's ridiculous. There is nothing wrong with having a sofa and loveseat in identical fabrics. What about a wraparound sofa or a large sectional? Would each part have to be in a different style? I've been in several very nicely decorated places that have had sofa loveseat recliner/chair sets. Its all what you make of it.

I think it can look good, but you also risk looking like you bought a furniture set at furniture fair.
