Yes, only the width would be wider I believe.

This is, in fact, not the case. Several AE sales associates and my own experience indicate otherwise. Every increase in width is accompanied by a modest increase in length. I don't remember if it was the Jermyn or the Franciscan, but I held an 11.5D and an 11E sole-to-sole and the 11E was actually longer. Once upon a time, someone posted here the actual increases in both dimensions for each increment of size and width.

Anyone with PX privileges: for President's Day, AAFES is offering 15% everything site wide. On top of their usual discount, that puts a pair of Strands (for instance) at $212.50, no tax or shipping.

I'd assume that with the extra width, extra length is needed to keep the last's proportions.Could it be that the the extra length is only in the toe, where it's not so important in regards to fit, but the ball of one's foot would hit the same spot in in different widths among the same size?

That makes sense to me, but I can't confirm it.

What do you guys think of the new clark street or lake shore?

What kind of patina might those colors develop over the years? I'm thinking a lighter colored leather (either of the these two leathers) would age very nicely and be a great casual shoe.

That makes it very tempting. Particularly the Burnished Brown Strands. I already have a pair in Walnut, maybe Park Aves in Merlot...maybe both.

I believe it was @halfnhalfnhalf who asked about Manager commission -- as has been confirmed, SA's do make commission and I did verify Manager's also make commission.

I would love to know the actual increases in length when we increment the width only.

The problem is I have short toes but they are a bit wide on width, I get length 8 and width 8 (right-on the 7) on AE measurement

park/fifth avenue 8D fits like
width: its too tight on front toe box area that my pinky toes and outer-side of my foot starts to sore
length: arch length (ball-to-heel) fits well, but a bit of room in length since my toes are short but just enough so that walking in shoe felt right

I was wondering if I should try 8E vs. 7.5E.
