That's how I feel about the Westchester. I didn't notice it until I wore them a few times but I prefer a longer/taller vamp on a loafer.

I remember trying the Westchester on, I felt the same way. Too much sock showing for my taste :)

I just had my feet measured for the MacNeil in the AE's next to Grand Central and measured a 13D. In the Clifton which I purchased a year ago I came to a 12EEE. Does this sound about normal? I'm just trying to make sure before ordering come custom's...

I found that I had to size up from Clifton to MacNeil, although in the same width. The Clifton is true to size for me, while the MacNeil is half a size up.

When you say you were measured for the MacNeil, do you mean that they somehow changed the Brannock measurement for the specific shoe? Or did you try the shoes on to come up with the measurement?

The Brannock measured me at 13D today and the 13D MacNeil felt really good. A year ago I was measured in the same store for the Clifton and ended up with 12EEE (after trying on 13D which felt loose). Today they only had the MacNeil in a 13D so couldn't try other sizes so can only assume that the 13D is the correct fit. Maybe I'm being neurotic but I guess I should just suck it up and order the damn shoes!

As the saying goes, if the shoe fits . . . wear it

If my info is good, the Clifton is a #8 last and the MacNeil is a #7. This may account for the difference.

Was your plan to try on the shoes in store and then order online? If so, order a few different sizes and return the ones you don't like.

If the #8 last is the same as my Quintons, than I agree that the 7 last MacNeils fit snugger.

Actually it was for a custom order so it needs to be correct (as I can't return). I figure that the 13D fit in store so I might as well just go for it...

If you tried it and it fits, 'nuff said. Don't worry about the numbers...

So what did you get? Is it just a custom size, or did you do some fancy colors/materials? You should mock it up on the website and post a sample pic!

Nothing too fancy... Was just going to get them in Walnut (no pebble grain). Unfortunately the online mock-up looks pretty naff but they look awesome in my mind :slayer:

Walnut will look awesome. I almost bought the pebble grain; but someone had posted pics of the walnut a while back, and they looked tremendous. You had to pay a premium, right?

And how's the selvedge chambray shirt working out for you? ;)

Yeah I was tempted by the pebble grain and although the price was right, I just couldn't jive with that pebbled look for some reason. I was thinking about getting them through a certain seller on here who can also get customs made (at a discount). Shirt is awesome thanks :)

Here's the pic of walnut shell Macneils from back in this thread, from rmspawn.  I think they look great!
