Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - reviews, pictures, sizing, etc...

I have a job interview Thursday at a very large corporation for a finance internship. I am planning to wear my charcoal or possibly navy suit, white shirt, haven't chosen a tie yet, and I am struggling on which shoes to wear.

I am down to:

Fifth Ave in Black
5th St Boot in Brown
McAllister in Burgundy

Which one would you guys wear?

I vote McAllister if you go w/ the charcoal suit. Always felt that burgundy/#8 looks great w/ charcoal. Good luck. IMO, don't wear brown shoes to a finance gig. Black or burgundy / #8.

I think that the Fifth Street or the McCallisters may be too flashy for an interview. I would go with the Fifth Avenues.

The general rule would say: if you wear the navy suit, brown shoes. If you wear the charcoal, black shoes.

IMO if it's known as a conservative workplace, charcoal/black. If it's a bit more progressive, navy/brown. Also depends how you want to present yourself of course!

I think the general feeling is that black shoes look too stark with anything other than charcoal or black. Of course, the "rules" are never hard and fast, except among the Style Police.

That said, I think a burgundy shoe would go well with navy.

Interview attire usually dictates a black dress shoe. Go with the Fifth Ave in Black, and pick a somber tie as well. Good luck.

In an interview, unless for a style or fashion place, dress as classically as poss to be safe. Funky shoes may grab the eye but that is not a good thing most of the time in a business interview.

Black and polish well before going.

Just bought my first pair of AE's - Park Avenue in Merlot. Really enjoying them a lot.

Couple of amateur questions - should I get them waterproofed, heeled, etc.? Basically, I have an excellent cobbler 5 minutes from where I live. Should I ask him to do anything?

I wear sneakers for my commute because I have about a mile walk to the train and then a 10 minute walk to work from there. Then I change into my dress shoes at the office. They're in perfect shape right now but eventually I'll be wearing them outside and do not want to see anything bad happen because I should have gotten something done to them.

I think burgundy or merlot shoes can be worn for an interview, if the shoe is something like a Park Ave. Otherwise, I'd go black.

With the choices above, I'd go with the black 5th Ave.s
