I agree that the a brown wingtip would be a good addition, and I like the MacAllister, but it only comes in black or walnut.  Can anyone recommend something in a darker brown?

Try the new Larchmont, in dark brown. It's a nice looking shoe, and would give you another blutcher alternative.

Regarding the 5th street, I am not convinced on It's ability to work conservatively with a suit. It is a boot aftet all, maybe some real life pics will serve to solidify It's validity.

I just looked at it and like it in dark chocolate. How does the 3 last compare to the 5?

^^Superfluous commented on fit in the last page :

Regarding the new 3-333 last:
I'm an 11B/C but can do 11D in the 5 last. I tried on an 11D and a 10.5D in the new 3 last Larchmont and they were both much too full. The toe is fairly elongated as well. I don't find them any narrower than the 5 last, but maybe I'm wrong.

McAllister is also available in Merlot which is a very nice color. And the Cambridge is available in Burgundy. Both seem like good choices.

True, but since he was missing a brown shoe, a brown wingtip made sense as well. All the options are good ones.

Same here.  I am contemplating a custom order, like a blue suede Strand or something like that.  Of course that means more $$$$.  But at least AE still allows custom orders.  If I want an 11C in a custom Alden, I have to pre-order with a retailer who offers it, pre-pay, and then wait 8 months.  AE looks better everyday.

Holy $hit. Can you do this and post pics?

Thanks.  I'm thinking the 5th St. in black would cover that basic black cap toe, and here in the midwest it would work for all but black tie occasions.  In a suit, almost no one will notice that it's a boot.

Here is the picture I posted a few pages back of my current dress shoe collection:

Another pair of strands in dark brown?

It might be a while, but I will post. I am also thinking about a blue suede PA; it's a little bit more versatile.

Do you know what shade of blue you want (not sure if there's a certain hue you have to choose).

I'm not sure either. Probably navy like the Players Shoe (which I hope to try on later this month). I'm guessing I will have to pick a leather they already offer. But I will find out. I like it because if I want something like a Dalton in brown shell or tan suede, they'll do it. I just have to pay for it and wait.

**EDIT**

Likewise, if you missed a WebGem like the cappucino shells, you can probably still order it custom. Expect to pay an additional $125 though.

Hey guys.. I work in a business casual environment. Is the strand (walnut) to dressy of a shoe to wear to work?
