Cold Iron brings this up a lot about AAFES (Military Exchange) but as a special heads up for active and retired military, for today only they are having a special code that gives you $29 off of every $100 spent. I just picked up the walnut strands at an amazing price. I might call and have the Park Aves. added to my order. It is a one time use code per eligible sponsor.

Thank you JBjunior, I think LOL. Got the email from AAFES about the sale but didn't pay attention to it at the time. After your post I went to milexch and somehow ended up ordering the McAllister in Walnut. Hope to get the Strands in both walnut shell and dark brown shell someday depending on fit of the 5 last. Love the color of the shell walnut on my Daltons, the black highlights are nothing short of spectacular. I pick up my 5th Street tomorrow and may end up ordering the Dundee also so can't believe I ordered these. But yet I have been looking at them for awhile. Thank you once again.

For what you paid for those Strands (yeah they were in my cart for a bit thinking about it) I bet you are going to keep looking over your shoulder to look for the police. It could almost be considered stealing

Two AE questions. I'm sure you guys can help me out. I'm buying my first pair of quality shoes, and need some help.

First, about fit. The footbed on all AEs I've tried on has gone up right where my big toe is. The rest of the shoe feels great, but right at my big toe (big toe only), there is an upswing that is a little uncomfortable (but tolerable). Is that something that will go down as the shoe is broken in? Should I keep looking?

Second, I ordered these Weybridge in walnut. The leather has some streaking. It's not very noticeable, but is that normal? I'm assuming it will become less noticeable with wear and polishing, but I didn't know if it's something to make a big deal out of (and return the shoes). Any advice? Picture in spoiler.

In the picture, the streaking is very noticeable. I'd return them.

If you just bought them and you don't like the way it looks, return or exchange. There's no shame in being picky. After all, you want to step up the style and quality of your shoes. As I've mentioned before on the thread, I'm on my third pair of Park Avenues from Nordstrom. I didn't like the way the first two fit. I wore the second pair for two weeks, and I had no qualms about taking it back because I didn't like the fit. Of course, Nordstrom has been so accommodating that I'll go back for another pair when I'm ready.

I know it sucks to take back a new pair of shoes, especially when you're building a wardrobe, but patience will serve you better.

Thanks for the advice on my earlier fitting problem. Went back in to be refitted and we came up a 11C with a different person. A big change from the 10.5B. They had to order them so I'll be able to check more carefully for fit before I finish the exchange.

What you guys think of the Bradley?

I think it's not boring like the park avenue's (sorry) has a bit of character IMO. My question is, is this style going to be timeless?

Not a big fan. I don't like the blucher aspect nor the split toe part.

No doubt, the "sale" price was already wonderful so I have been contemplating a few days but when I logged in and put them in my cart today they were almost paying me to buy them :slayer: . I pulled the trigger and if I was dead sure on the fitment of the 5 last I would have got the Park Aves. as well. I want to wear both pairs that I will have for a few weeks to make sure they both fit well. If they do I will wait for another sale to pick up the other pair.

Split toes wil always be classics

Yep, classic. I'm wearing mine in burgundy shell tomorrow. The most conservative accountant I know wars only these and park avenues. By the way, timeless sometimes = boring. :D

How narrow is the AA width for AE shoes? I just ordered a pair off eBay and I'm worried they'll be too narrow, even though my feet aren't very wide (D usually leaves gaps).

Going from D to AA reduces width/girth by almost an inch. That's a lot.

On a different note, I just saw the Ridgeway special edition.

Looks cool as I was considering a red Neumok. These are lined, I think. The rubber sole seems to be a plus for a casual shoe.
