I have been using AE Chili polish on my brown Kenilworths and am really happy with the result...

Saddle brown is pretty nice on these too. I've been fluctuating between the saddle brown and dark brown on my Malverns and Delrays and really like the result.

I didn't have THAT much time on my hands!! I was actually surprised myself how nice they turned out.
4) Probably broke some kind of rule here but used AE Chili paste polish lightly on toe/vamp and scuffs.

You just pushed me over the edge and caused me to order Saphir Renovatuor which I've been debating for some time. It will be for my shell shoes and boots though. Love my Bayfields and use them for the office in winter so have been polishing them with AE burgundy and once with black on the seam edges. Switching to chili now that they have some of the color that I want. So no your not breaking any rules in my book. Great job!

Thanks!!
You will love the Reno on your shells--it really glosses them up. Use sparingly though.
I think the Chili shoe cream polish is really what shined up the Bayfields though--they really absorbed both the leather conditioner and the Reno and left the CXL with a matte finish. The polish then brought out what little shine CXL gives.

Can anyone here tell me anything about the Montecito? I want to get a pair as a casual "beater" loafer. Also, if any of you could post photos these loafers broken in, it would be a great help.

yeah i tried it on at the store, they are tight in the toe box compare to the my Strand. and they don't offer anything in E width with that shoe. only with the D width and the EEE width...
.

Yeah, I had to size up .5 size in the Player Shoe compared to Strand.

I'm a newborn baby trying to learn how to fly, so please be gentle. I crossed paths with this picture.

It was described as being the AE Strand in Walnut. Why do the shoes in the image above have a reddish hue, but on the image on the site (image below) have a more orange-ish tint?

Was the top pair treated with something? Are they the same model? If they are the same which image represents a more accurate depiction of the true Walnut color?

The top picture looks to be a bit over saturated. My strands are a tad lighter than the bottom picture. AWESOME shoe! Goes with damn near anything except black.

Just grabbed a pair of walnut Nordstrom Player's for $159. I had a pair of Lombards and wasn't in love. Hoping these are better with the extra details...double leather sole, etc.

The top picture is what my Strands look like after seven months of wear and polishing. When the shoe arrived, it was considerably lighter than it is now. With wear and the regular application of the AE walnut shoe polish (every week for the first month and then once a month thereafter), the shoes have gotten darker and developed more of that orange hue.

they are double layered? I didn't know that. But it's very comfortable when I tried it on at the outlet.

did you size down on the 2 lasts?

^ Yeah, I confirmed that they have double soles and dovetail heels. Both are features you never really see on most AE models and make the shoes look much nicer than your run of the mill pair. I went TTS in the #2. I know others say it's narrow and to go wider and size-down, but this last fits me great just buying my regular size.
