Well, I'm returning the Sanfords I got with the Rediscover sale price ($250, $265 after tax) because I just found them on Amazon for $196. Now I feel like I can justify another pair icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

1) Is a second quality strand worth it at $200? Im worried that the defect with it will be bigger than I'd like.
2) If i wear 9e on the PA do I order the same size for the strands? Same last
3) I'm also interested in the Norwich or Kenilworth or maybe possibly the fifth avenue in burnished brown but
Stylewise its too close to the PA.. Price for first quality FA seems good at $230. I'd like the norwich but I'm
Not sure if its worth it at $260. Im thinking about getting the norwich then getting the strands when the next
Nordstrom sale comes around, what do you guys think?
4) Any recommendations for shoes I can wear with a suit and dress down with jeans?
5) Should two pairs of shoes be enough for work? Im working five days a week in a suit.. Of course I will be
Looking to purchase a third pair down the road..

1) Yes, just check them out when you get them and if not happy, exchange for another pair. Worst comes to worst, you can return them

Also, if I wear a 10.5D in Clifton's, what size should I get in the Malverns?

I didn't care for the Malvern as a winter shoe, though I only had them for a short time. I purchased the Katmai chukka last season and they have been great through all kinds of nasty weather/hikes.

Why not get another color of PA?

I just got a pair of Bayfields in 8.5D off B&S. The shoe length is perfect (in fact there is a tiny amount of slippage at the heel) but it is too narrow. When I wear the boots I can't spread my toes and I can feel pressure on the little toe. My question is, should I try to have these widened at the cobbler or give up and sell them now since I've only worn them once?

You should try to have them widened at a cobbler.. I have a pair of boots and shoes that I've had the same problem with.. Keep in mind they don't stretch that much but after you wear them a few times after they will feel pretty good.. Next time try an E width

any particular reason? by winter, i just meant some rain (im in cali), so i thought that it might be perfect?

The Malverns are nice, I just needed something more robust. The Katmai waxed suede really stands up to rain/snow...

They are on the same last, but the rough leather of the McTavish is not as pliable as the soft calfskin used on the regular shoes, so it doesn't fit around the last as tightly. I am also a half size down in the McTavish. I usually wear a 9.5E in the 5 last, but have a 9E in the McTavish.

Wow. Thanks for the pictures.  Guess I'll have to just try both on.

Anyone  figure out if the outlet store will run a 2 for 300?

Black shell MacNeil's finally landed yesterday.

I ordered them about six weeks ago, but was told they would take a while since there were issues getting enough shell.

Hopefully this means that they can start working on those web gems now too.

And Fed Ex did drop these at the front door without a signature. Second time they have done this, so possibly this is the new norm.

Is it normal for AE to have these marks on the soles on returned shoes?

Thinking of picking these up from ebay.

Yes, Nordstrom's does that I think on returned shoes.
