Anyone know if the sale applies to inshore? I work about 10 mins from one and would like to go during lunch tomorrow.

Or if they are changing the shoes on a day to day basis...i like strands better but mcallisters are also very nice

I want to order shoe trees but am not sure what size to get them. On the AE website they list:

  • 401 Men's Small
  • 402 Men's Medium
  • 403 Men's Large
  • 404 Men's X Large
  • 405 Men's XX Large

I wear an 11.5 D size shoe. I'm guessing I should go for either the medium or large... which is better?

Thanks

Also, I'd like to order the McAllisters. On Amazon (I have prime) I can get walnut or walnut calf... is there a difference? If so which one is lighter?

On AE's website there's only one walnut offering.

On Amazon they're selling the McAllisters in walnut as well as in walnut calf. Is there a difference or is that a mistake by Amazon?

If there is a difference which one is lighter in color?

Calf is the type of leather, walnut is the color. It's the same shoe. It looks like a third party merchant on Amazon simply labeled the color attribute differently so it comes up as a different color option.

This is the same pair, different angle. I posted this pic in this thread a few weeks ago, really like the tones.

was at the AE store today, I didn't see any walnut cordovan offerings. The tone really is superb!

The sale is in-store as well. There are a few AE stores around where I work, and they are all advertising the sale.

Of course there site is down for maintenance at the moment, but they do have a chart. The grid shows all shoe sizes and widths with the shoe tree that matches.

Concerning the walnut shell although it is more history than anything else now,

When the walnut shell first came out last fall both offerings, the Strand shoe and Dalton boot, said Limited Edition. I jumped on the Dalton immediately:

Soon after I received them AE removed the Limited Edition from the description so I didn't worry so much about ordering the walnut shell Strands. Fortunately I did finally order the Strands a couple of days before they removed them from the website a couple of weeks ago. They are much darker than the boots for the most part. The craftsman that put them together did a great job putting lighter pieces in the quarters and darker for the toe caps. Most earlier pictures of the shell walnut Strands that I saw showed a lighter color through out like my boots. Several people purchased the brown shell Strands in addition to the walnut shell Strands because there was enough difference in the two. My Strands are dark enough that are too similar to do that. I could, but it would be redundant. IMO AE did a great job on both the boots and shoes (center shoe) and were well worth it.
