If a pair of burgundy shell cambridges arrived on my doorstep, I do believe I would go outside, walk up to the first person I saw, look them dead in the eye and say **** like: "you're fired...now get out of my office.". Just for the hell of it

or

**** like "I want the full proposal for the Meyer project on my desk by 9 am sharp tomorrow morning"

I like my walnut AE's with navy, charcoal, olives, etc. I like the contrast personally, but some don't and that's why they make different color shoes.
As far as evening, depends on the situation. If it is a more formal occassion, perhaps a black or even burgundy shoe might be better. But if it is more of a festive occassion, I think the walnut would work fine.
I feel you should wear whatever you are comfortable wearing. If you aren't confident it looks good, you won't feel good about it. Go ahead and try on the walnut Strands with a dark charcoal suit at the house. See how it looks to you and go from there.
Chris

It's for my sister's wedding which is why I'm a little more eager to bust out the Walnut Strands as opposed to a more conservative brown punch cap. I don't have the suit that I am planning on wearing yet.

I really like the burgundy cambridge, but there is none in my size. Is the cordovan sale only on factory seconds?

They were also having a sale on firsts for $399. Not sure if the Cambridge was included.

jeust0999,

Call your favorite outlet store and see what they can get you. The way it was explained to me, the seconds in shell are $299, firsts in shell are $399, but only on what they have in-stock. Good luck!

Yes, and I believe it is the Presidio, with a different sole.

All the AE shoes for Brooks Brothers have that sole and heel treatment, I think, so you can differentiate them from Aldens and others.

Looks like everyone is getting their shoes today! Here are mine:

1st: Cambridge in burgundy shell cordovan

and 2nd, Daltons in walnut shell cordovan (check out the reverse welt!)

For those interested, or if any of you ever are going up 71 between Cincinnati and Columbus, Brian's number is 740-948-9033.
Those shell Cambridge are absolutely awesome!

This morning I just ordered a pair of walnut shell Strands because I like the color of my walnut shell Dalton's so much. After seeing those shell Cambridge I know what my next shoe is going to be. bucksfan your a terribly bad influence!

And thanks for sharing once again. Kicking myself for not getting the Dundee now.

Thanks! Sorry to be such a bad influence

Also, FYI - the proverbial "little birdie" told me that the Dundees may be back in the fall. (it was the top seller of the 3 cappuccino shoes, selling roughly 10x as many as each of the other two). Also, I bet a few seconds might pop up in about a month, after they do all the production runs.

Wow those Cambridges look awesome. When I ordered my Walnut shell Strands I was debating between the Cambridge and the Strands. My only reservation with the Cambridge was the proportion of the medallion portion of the shoe to the rest of it.
Thanks - I see what you are saying, but I actually think the proportion is about right (at least on my size - 12D - other sizes may be a bit off).

Congrats bucksfan! It sure is a nice haul. Thanks again for the heads up from your local AE outlet. You've made many of very happy (and a few dollars poorer).
... Or richer (depending on how you look at it...) If you try the argument my wife tries with me - well, "it was on sale for 40% off, so I bought 3!"

I have a quick question regarding sizing. I know on the website it says the specific measurement increases for going up a half size and a width in length and wide respectively, but I am wondering if there is a width increase while going up a length size. for example, does the width increase going from a 9D to 9.5D, or just the length? Thanks for your help (from someone with serious 5 last sizing issues)
