Do you think these tears will reduce the longevity of the shoes life or prevent recrafting?

My guess would be yes to both questions. Shoot this picture to AE's customer service just to be sure. Cosmetic problems I can live with, but problems that will affect the structure of the shoe (i.e. tears in leather, burst stitches, etc.) would cause me to return.

Called Harry Rosen here in Toronto and Robert Jones menswear.

For the Kenilworth from Harry it's $350 and from Robert Jones its $320

I"m wondering If I should just try them on in store and buy online.

Yes I contacted AE and they will see if they can repair them before I try for a refund. They are discontinued Moras I got for 130 so if they can repair it....it should still be a good deal.

Anyone pick up a North Platte. I am underwhelmed.

I did and I like it, but it is a narrow niche and I think most people in the market for a brogue boot would want something more countrified and solid looking like the Tricker's Stowe. The North Platte is a bit more American dress shoeish in its profile.

I already have a different pair of brogue boots (the OneTrueSaxon Whithorn in black, very underrated and not very available anymore) so I was looking for something different.

Why the different prices? What does the s mean in the style number?

212S should be the "seconds" as in there is some sort of defect, hence the discount.

Might be overthinking this a little but is the Walnut Strand a color that is suitable for evening wear or is it more of a daytime shoe?
And how does it look with a deeper grey suit?

I like my walnut AE's with navy, charcoal, olives, etc. I like the contrast personally, but some don't and that's why they make different color shoes.

As far as evening, depends on the situation. If it is a more formal occassion, perhaps a black or even burgundy shoe might be better. But if it is more of a festive occassion, I think the walnut would work fine.

I feel you should wear whatever you are comfortable wearing. If you aren't confident it looks good, you won't feel good about it. Go ahead and try on the walnut Strands with a dark charcoal suit at the house. See how it looks to you and go from there.

Same last (model code is 1221, so 1 last, which the dalton appears to be on as well). Nice dark brown and thick leather. Differences includ a full lug sole and the Reverse or split welt or whatever they call it.

I did get mine discounted on ebay, so it perhaps easier for me to swallow.

Hey guys! Got all my AE shoes today! WOW!!!!!! I think I'm going to return the black Cliftons as the reason they are seconds is because the entire upper of the left foot is misaligned and doesn't look correct when worn. The right fits great but the left, not so much. So far all the shoes fit my feet really well. My questions is taking into account that I'm going to return the black Cliftons what should I get instead? I certainly don't need anymore cap toes and I'm not a big fan of slip ons (plus I have a decent pair of black slip ons). I was thinking maybe a wing tip? I really like the burgundy cordovan so maybe some more of that? Anyway any suggestions would be greatly appreciated both for style and color.
