Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - Page 453

I see that the AE belts are 35mm wide, is this considered normal width for a belt when looking for one for a wedding as a groom ?

Or do you need to shop for slimmer belt ?

 I currently have:

 - chili byrons

 - walnut strands

 - black pa's

 

now looking to round out my shoes w/ the chocolate

daltons.  what do you guys think?

 - are the chocolate daltons easily dressed up or down? (jeans,chinos,suit)  I would think so

 - I wear a 9.5E in the 5 last, what size would you guys recommend for the daltons?

My dark brown cordovan Strands (seconds) should be coming in tomorrow or early next week.

So excited!

 

Already have black PAs so next up:
MacNeils in Burgundy Cordovan

and maybe Black Cambridge.

 

Methinks this might make for a decent rotation for any given week!

I might be different than others in this, but black cordovan looks kind of odd to me. I love all shades of brown cordovans though.

Have you seen the black cordovan in person? I have black cordovan Leeds and a pair of Aldens and find I prefer black calf due to the rubbery look of black cordovan. I would check them out in person before buying!

^ yeah my PAs are calf.  I'm not fond of black cordovan either.  Like you said, it's rubbery.

Would get the Cambridge in calf if I did end up picking up a pair

Considering traditionally a groom would wear a tuxedo with braces (rendering a belt moot), I'm sure you are free to pick any width belt in your situation (provided the width does not exceed the size of the belt loops on your pants).

It is my understanding that the Cambridge only comes in cordovan, and its calf counterpart is the McAllister offering.

Anyone have any experience with the Seven Collection Fabriano? I just picked up a brand new pair for a steal and just wondering what I should expect. I have the Vinci and Tresana so I am expecting the same type of quality and comfort with these, especially with the rubber sole.

Hey, thanks for this sizing info. I've only tried on one pair of 5 last shoes - the Strawfut - and I found it long enough but narrow. Your experience confirms mine. But if the E feels the same as the D, then I don't know what I'd do. I can't see sizing up in length.

And the comment from the salesperson is great! Best shoe/worst last about sums it up for me, too! Who are all these people with super narrow feet that fit the 2 last? Maybe the AE executive doesn't realize that his foot is narrower than average.

Quick question for y'all. when you measure on the brannock if your toe is right on the line of one size, for example, I measure exactly 10.5D sock-less, would you take a 10.5D or 11D?

I would go up half a size. I can't stand to have my toes being pushed on; but I know some people like a snug fit.

How many of you wear your strands casually with jeans and etc? The Elgins look tempting but I already own a pair of strands in walnut that look similar enough...
